Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
How do the indians fit Santana's salary, especially when we have Alonso?

More than likely it would be Santana and money going to Cleveland for Alonso and a decent prospect (maybe a Civale). So seattle would eat part of his contract, while the Indians give back a prospect for Seattle's rebuild. Seems like an interesting deal to be honest. It isn't going to hurt us this season at least.

No thanks on Los.

Dropped off a cliff.

I would expect a bounce back season from him as does Fangraphs, which projects him at 122 wRC+ next season. He would especially benefit in hitting at Progressive Field again for 81 games a season.

Doesn't Carlos have 2 yrs @ 20M? Do not understand this at all.

We'd be adding about $12M in salary in a deal like that.

I'd imagine we'd want to shed EE for sure if we're looking at Santana. It makes no sense, if we're trying to reallocate $, to pay over $40M towards our 1B/DH combo, especially when both are on the wrong side of 30.

Hence why I said Seattle would send us some cash/take some of his contract to help offset things. Honestly I am not sure if its a good idea or not, but the production between Santana and Alonso really will be about the same anyways at the end of the day, so if we do make a trade for Santana that is the only thing I can think of to happen.

Why not just keep Alonso? How does that trade help Cleveland at all?
