Picking Porter would definitely squash all the Lebron sh-t for a while. For that reason alone, I'd be fine with the pick, haha. I think he's going to be a great fit on our team either way. I just think Oladipo has a higher ceiling, but obviously a much worse fit. If we can get back into the early teens we might be able to get Porter and Dieng or even Adams. That'd be a coup.

No, it wouldn't. LeBron is basically a power forward now, and regardless you wouldn't not sign LeBron just to keep Porter. If they couldn't co-exist, you'd trade Porter or Thompson.

Or maybe he hasn't been mentioned at all because he is obviously not worthy of the number 1 pick?

No one (especially taking injuries into consideration) is worthy of #1 in this draft. Yet someone has to be. Of the main 6 guys mentioned, Porter certainly has his arguments for going #1 (great fit for the Cavs, good at everything type of guy, great length, projects well with advanced stats, no injury concerns, no personality/work ethic concerns). Having said that, he wouldn't be in my top 2 (or perhaps even lower). But he should be in the general #1 debates just as much as most of the other top 6 prospects this year.

I think it's stretching it to assume that Austin Carr has any input whatsoever into draft day decisions, or that he's at all in the loop as to who the Cavs will draft. He's basically a team-employed personality that they keep around because the fans love him. He's not part of the front office (as far as I know), and I doubt they police his articles at all outside of making sure he keeps them generally positive.

Still, he's around enough that it seems possible, right? I can see him getting word that the Cavs are drafting Porter, and the guy who tells him is like "yeah, keep that under cover until after the draft" so he just plays it safe and doesn't touch on him in his column.

My pet theory is that the Cavs are torn between Porter and Noel (or maybe some other player?), and whether or not they can find an acceptable starting SF via trade will determine whether or not they'll draft Porter. That would explain why they're showing such urgency to kick the tires on every available SF right before the draft.

Really doesn't seem possible to me that Carr has spoken to anyone in power about who the Cavs will draft. It's the offseason, he knows as much as any of us.

I'd really be into Otto and Adams. I just have a really strong feeling about Adams, and I do think that the type of SF that Porter is would fit perfectly here with our backcourt. A good passer, rebounder, and teammate. I just feel that he would do what it takes, and that would probably allow everyone to really maximize their talents. A high usage guy at the 3 doesn't make much sense to me, but a dude who can pass and score when he needs to, as well as defend is a better fit than either Len or Noel. I think his length makes up for his lack of explosiveness. You watch Kawhi and see you don't need a guy that jumps out of the gym, just adequate athleticism and a commitment to D. I could totally buy in.

Where we currently draft I think Noel/Karasev or Bullock would be a good scenario for me.

The one I hoped for pre-lottery was Porter and Adams. But then Adams made a strong case to be in the top 10 and squashed that idea of getting him late first. But if we can work back up enough to get Adams which allows us to pass on Noel/Len to pick Porter that'd be my ideal draft.

I could really go for a Porter/Adams draft if there's any doubt about Noel's knee. Frank said Oladipo was built like a brick shithouse and I'm going to steal that expression and use it with Adams. Adams is built like a brick shithouse. In a draft filled with fragile bigs he's a fucking rock.

Adams will be a beast one day.

did anyone ever hear how otto porter's workout went??

i heard mclemore was not good..

how did porter's workout go i wonder?? did he impress at all?? look too normal?

I think Otto might still be in play, but its so hard to tell. If the Cavs can move up to the 10-13 range as rumored they could get Porter and maybe Zeller or whatever big they covet. If they feel Otto/Noel/Len/McLemore are all similar value players this could be the plan.
