College Football: Who has the Worst Fans Conversation

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My Dad is a Florida alum and would love to agree with you about being the worst.

In the big ten it is OSU fans, followed closely by UM fans.

Wisconsin fans travel the best, very friendly and respectful.

I am not speaking nationally, just Big Ten as i got to experience this first hand over the 7 years I bartender on Campus.

And this isnt just my opinion, it was talked about. We used to hate OSU and Michigan home football weekends.

Yes, some fans travel betters than others, OSU and Michigan are arrogant self entitled disrespectful fans as a bunch.

OSU & Michigan fans. Worse than Penn Rape Paterno apologists. :chuckle:

I'm surprised b00bie isn't in here defending his favorite player more. :chuckle:

To the point I made earlier. What is the difference between a teammate doing it and the fans??

Any UM alum is going to get shit from his OSU alum teammate, and vice versa. It's the same for Auburn-Alabama and any college rivalry.

That's not even how the NFL works anyways. Retaining a player is with the power of the team, not the player in this league. So "running a player out of town" before we know if he's good just isn't going to happen. He's going to love playing in front of the Dawg Pound once he gets out there on game day. No doubt in my mind.

I hope your right about him playing in front of the dog pound.

And its different between a teammate and a fan because you know the teammate and it is taken differently by someone.

And personally I hope he lives up to the hype. He is supremely athletically gifted, but I am a bit concerned about his lake of interceptions at the college level. I know he fits Greg Williams's defense like a glove though.

That is not something I have experienced i was done with Purdue by then.

But I would imagine no, and there are a ton of Nebraska fans here in Phoenix and I bet they are an annoying bunch. At Least OSU fans can hang their hat on being a knowledgeable fan base, Nebraska fans cant seem to say that, lol.

But to be honest, never experienced either Nebraska or the post molestation PSU fans.

Penn State fans are a) the most holier-than-thou fanbase in the Big Ten and b) zealously defended a pedophile enabler.

I don't care a ton about a) by itself. Like, if NW fans or Stanford fans or fans of a Service Academy team were holier-than-thou, I get it because they put actual academic rigors on their players.

It becomes irksome when schools like Michigan or Duke (for basketball, at least) pretend like they actually hold their players to the same standard. Great schools, but they will admit anyone with a pulse for their sports teams. And not that 95% of "power conference" schools don't bend the academic rules when it comes to sports. Just don't hide behind behind the rest of the student body and claim your sports teams are any different from "dumb" schools.

But combine a) with the absolute tragedy that was b)....no. Penn State fans have this in a walk.

Also, PSU fans (allegedly) threw balloons of urine at the OSU's band in 2005.

edit - Sorry if this is sidetracking the thread. Move to the college football board if necessary.

Remember @Los216 went to that training camp and he didn't mention anything about the vast majority of the crowd booing or yelling shit at him; if that happened, I am sure he would have mentioned it. As with any fan base, you are going to have the drunk, 3rd shift Pilot workers yelling obscenities at players. They are dumb as shit b/c they are yelling at him b/c he went to UM, but oh well. They will eventually be eating jalapenos in the stands every time Peppers gets a pick/3rd down stop.

As for Peppers, grow the hell up. You play in the NFL and people are going to hate you no matter what: fans & definitely not fans. Bust your ass on the field to make yourself and the team better. Block the shit talkers out, become mentally stronger, and show why you are a 1st round talent.

We're talking about fanbases of literally tens of millions of people spread out all over the country, even world, over several generations. And we're saying that they're somehow more or less knowledgeable, more or less holier-than-thou or more or less obnoxious based on their behavior in a specific bar in Phoenix, or at the two places you worked in DC, or where you lived in Florida all while the two teams were dominant over a specific period of time.

Because the 20 drunken 19 year old kids currently enrolled at the college visiting Phoenix during Spring Break are representative of all of the OSU fans that graduated between the years of 1950-60 and still root for the team from home and can barely move out of their seats.

It's like...what the fuck are we doing here?

Of the Penn State fans I know here in Pennsylvania, a handful defended Paterno initially and none defended Sandusky. Between family members, co-workers, acquaintances and people I saw posting on facebook, this totals probably 20-30 or so. Are you referring to what the school itself did?

What do you mean by holier-than-thou fanbase? Are you saying of the tens of millions of fans that exist, they are all the most holier-than-thou? How is this measured? :chuckle:

Internet message boards, obvs.

Peppers didn't bring this up. He was asked by Ken and responded briefly saying the response by Buckeyes fans hasn't been great. This is a misplaced overreaction.

Ya, I think it's been inflated also. That said, it hasn't been a great reception for him, which is bewildering considering he's a Cleveland Brown. Maybe it was yinzers; they always do what they can to bring down the collective intelligence.

Thank You Bobby.

Thought something happened at Training Camp when I say 6 new pages.

I created this thread and I already hate it.

I hated it when someone decided to defend Penn State fans on the same site they never give the Browns or Indians a break on. :chuckle:

I'm guessing there's a fair amount of people who doubt he was worthy of the pick. This isn't unprecedented, I mean, we've seen players booed by their own fans on draft night across the major sports.

If he goes out and performs like a 1st round pick is supposed to then none of this will matter. Peppers isn't entitled to anything beyond having his fans root for him. As far as I know, all Cleveland fans are rooting for him. It doesn't mean they all have to believe he's going to be great right now.

Hopefully Peppers proves himself on the field.
