So long, David Griffin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Does Isaiah Thomas have the upside of a core player?

If felder can come in and put up a .575 TS% then we have something. I think Felder being the same size as one of the few sub 6-0 guys in the last 20 yrs not to wash out is more of a case against than for his success, imo

I don't think there is enough appreciation how good a player has to be in the NBA to make it at sub 6'. College good is not hardly enough.

Not sure what to make of Felder's stats at Oakland University, which has produced just one NBA player, Rawle Marshall (discounting Keith Benson's 3 games). Thomas was a PAC-10 product.

I didnt like him at point and i dont see a role for him as a sg personally. We need a 3rd pg and we need a 5th big who can play center. We dont need a 5th player who can play sg.

Jr, Shump, Mcrae, Dunleavy, RJ all play sg and most can play sf, Liggins if he cant play pg really is a one positional no 3 and D player.

I know i am being hard on him, just rather develop McRae and Felder and find a young big to develop.

Also, need to see more of Douglas, absolutely need a 3rd pg, and Liggins and McRae are not going to cut it at pg.

I'm torn on this. i hate Toney Douglass. Never a fan of his. Kay seems to have more pg skills than him already. Also, as long as JR or Shump can bring the ball up, it seems like pg might not be a major need.

I get the Dunleavy and Jerreson deal, but Liggins can guard 1-3 and, and those guys really can't anymore. This team can easily go small with Lebron and it was so effective last year I would like to have as many wings as possible who can defend. Jr and Shumps defense were crucial and Shump is so fragile.

I don't think that is what shoes is talking about, per se. I could be wrong though.

I'm taking his reply to mhi, who wants guys with "upside", as Felder has the upside to be a Thomas type, and therefore a core player, not that he is him right now...yet mhi is saying he "doesn't have core player upside"...shoes disagrees with him on that, and I agree with him on that.

But man...mhi has an "upside" fetish...you can't call for development of the bottom 3rd of our roster, and then say the young guys occupying those spots "don't have core player potential"...talk about contradicting yourself...

I was not impressed with Liggins, but it was one game. One advantage with Douglas and liggins is they will both take non guaranteed deals giving us huge flexibility.

I get your point, but if we keep McRae, which we are, We need the last position to be able to play pg. JR and Shump are just not going to cut it. What if Lebron sits and Kyrie has a minor injury? Do we just want to give up games on purpose? We need a 3rd true pg.

Not a Douglas fan either...really hope he isn't guaranteed a roster spot...

The San Antonio approach works in part because they have a foundation of elite players and bring in the other guys to fill very well defined roles on the team. That allows those players to help you win now and give them time to see if they can develop more to their game. I think someone like Danny Green would be viewed very differently over the course of an 82 game season if he was your best player. Because that team would not win a lot of games.

They basically find a way to let a player play to his own strengths, which should be the goal for every GM and coach. So, Patty Mills was able to step-up off the bench for Tony Parker in the finals. The stage wasn't too big for him, he was able to step-in and take over for Parker because Pops never treated him like he had to be any less than that.

That's what's so unique about the Cavs trying out players like Felder and McRae ... they aren't just guys who are going to go to their corners on the floor and wait for the pass from LeBron. They will try to seize the moment, and whether they're effective at it, all depends on how we're able to bring them along and let them play to their strengths.

College good is never enough (just by itself) and it's tough for shorter guys to excel at the College level too. Isaiah Thomas had a solid 3yr NCAA career at a small school, but didn't dominate.

The thing is, none of this has anything to do with what other players have done ... it's all about Kay's talent level, drive, and how he's used.

We're just going to have to see.

Back on the 4th page, I guess we are just going to leave his thread silent?

The master at work. I don't think he is done either.

this guy is a king among kings. a god among gods. a legend, a hall of famer, and I would vote for him as president anyday.

We should build a statue of his giant ginger balls being plopped down on a desk next to a phone.

He, Gilbert, and LeBron should be seen as the three gods of Cleveland sports in this city. Once Bron came here and Kevin came said he loved and they won a ring. It seems like sports players are thinking... Maybe this is a place to live and play. It is so nice even some football players for as bad as the Browns been want to say and a few would like to turn things around. All jokes aside winning that one ring changed everything.
