Thompson's main calling card -- rebounding, specifically offensive rebounding -- has been on a slide since the 2015-16 championship season.

ORB%
'14-'15: 14.5%
'15-'16: 13.5%
'16-'17: 13.9%
'17-'18: 10.3%

DRB%
'14-'15: 19.7%
'15-'16: 23.3%
'16-'17: 19.6%
'17-'18: 19.3%

TRB%
'14-'15: 17.2%
'15-'16: 18.4%
'16-'17: 16.9%
'17-'18: 15.0%

A few percentage points either way is a pretty significant shift. We all know Thompson can't score unless it's a lob and his defense has slightly declined the past two years as well. The Cavaliers are a net -6.5 per 100 with him on the floor, and advanced stats say his only calling card, rebounding, is trending down as well.

Need to move him in my opinion, especially with the money he's making. If this team is going to try to fit in a non-shooting center into a perimeter oriented team, he needs to be a rim protector and an elite rebounder (DeAndre Jordan). Thompson is not.

Jordan this season is averaging: 11 PPG, 15.3 RPG (NBA leader), 1.1 BPG, 0.5 SPG, 64.8 FG%, and 55.2 FT% (career high).

DRB%: 36.2% (NBA leader) vs. Thompson's 19.3%
ORB%: 15.6% vs. Thompson's 10.3%
TRB%: 25.7% vs. Thompson's 15.0%

So Jordan is infinitely better than Thompson at the one thing we have Thompson here to do. He's a much better screen setter and a far superior defender. Of note however, Jordan is averaging his lowest BLK% of his career, and Thompson is arguably a better perimeter defender.

However, Jordan is better than Thompson at:
- Catching lobs
- Scoring in the post (neither are world-beaters but Jordan is better and more efficient)
- Rebounding
- Post defense
- Blocking shots

Trade idea thread time.

I think DeAndre is absolutely "playable" against Golden State, and would really stress them defensively. Beyond his great rebounding numbers, the guy is probably the best lob finisher in the NBA, and an animal at the rim. Come playoff time, whether its Zaza, Jordan Bell, or anyone else, the size differential at that position is just huge.

He'd also likely get a lot of the Warriors in foul trouble. At 55% FT shooting, he isn't completely lost at the stripe.

And I guess the last point I'd make.....I think coming to a championship caliber team, he'd likely be willing to come off the bench. If you wanted to continue to stretch defenses with Love at the 5, bringing Jordan in with the second unit, especially setting screens for Wade, would really be amazing.

A second unit of:

Jordan
LeBron
Green
Korver
Wade

That is just filthy......

I have been thinking that the reason Jordan doesn't play well against GSW is more due to the makeup of the Clippers than him.

Tbh, he never had a legit stretch 4 to play alongside him.

LAC also looked better whenever they put a defacto stretch 4 in place of Blake. I don't have Jordan's individual number whenever they did that, but the spacing for DJ to roll with less congestion inside with Love at the 4 should be significant.

Could also be the “Which teams would be interested in TT?” thread.

If we end up getting DJ, I want Lou Williams also.

I can see Lou helping this team right now, but we're about to get IT back, and he's basically a rich man's Lou Williams. Defensive specialist roleplayers will be more valuable in the long run.

Yeah if those defensive specialist can ALSO score.

I was saying the same thing yesterday.. I think this would be a great trade for us if possible..

Add in one of the rookies and our pick.. and switch Shump with JR if they rather that... small part of me might even add the nets pick.. but that’s last resort if there’s absolutely no other options out there and if they won’t budge at all with this trade..

trade TT shump Our first round pick (maybe Cedi too) for DJ and Lou Williams

DJ at center for us would help a lot (rebounding and put backs from missed shots) and then lou Williams off the bench scoring 10-15 points

I get the feeling...cavs want it, jordan wants it and clips want jordan gone...they are all waiting for someone to blink first
