DeAndre Liggins Waived

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well, I guess that's a done deal then because ANONYMOUS said so?No, because whenever any player is signed by this organization it is released immediately.s.

It must be really fun watching the NBA/NFL draft with you when the person next to you is a few draft picks ahead. :chuckle:

You also must be tons of fun during the NBA free agency season, but hey, at least you got to be on the right side of history when DeAndre Jordan went back on his word. Whatever.

You really don't understand how this all works....

So, Woj is wrong and not credible? Because this is what you are getting at.

Got to give the guy some credit with the way this season is going D. Jones might break his leg trying to get here to sign and then Tavarez (or whatever) falls real ill and we end up with AV and Tayshuan Prince.

when it is official it is official , before that it is garbage.

You really do not understand this even with multiple long time respected posters trying to help you.

The AP is as strenuous as it gets on confirming and collaborating information. It's why Withers is rarely first with Cavs news(and often doesn't chime in at all), but when he does, it is to be trusted.

Secondly: Woj/Shams/the Vertical. They are THE definitive and most trust worthy source of breaking basketball news for the past almost ten years. In the past five years, given HUNDREDS of breakin trades and signings, you can count the info they got wrong on one hand.

One of the main reasons for this is that they have longstanding relationships with almost all the agents and FOs of the league as well as sources within the league office themselves. All trades and signings must be submitted to the league first and Woj has sources their who will tip him off when the paperwork(digital nowadays) has come through.

In short, while there is a lot of info out there to be skeptical of, but Cavs info coming from Withers at the AP or any NBA info coming from WOJ/Shams/TheVertical is correct 99.99 percent of the time.

Continuing to be stubborn about it demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of the nature of the NBA over the past decade.

I understand this: no amount of journalism is credible until it is confirmed

The AP and The Vertical do not publish trade and signing info until they have confirmed it with entities involved in the signing/trade including the the league office. You're being obtuse and doing it intentionally. If that is the sword/schtick you want to fall on, that's your choice.

That was my interpretation, too...thanks for trying to help.

Seriously could have gotten a 1st for Shumpert at the deadline and kept Liggins. Now Shumpert's value is a straight salary dump to 2nd rounder value at best. Terrible job.

The more I read about it, the more it seems that waiving Liggins was purely a tax-saving moving. If that's the case, then it's even more disappointing.

Had no idea people were so enthralled with Liggins...

I would not be surprised if the Cavs moved Shump in the off season simply to save money. Seems to be Gilberts m.o. right now. If that happens, all bets are off.

Anyone find it peculiar that Liggins was claimed right away by Dallas who was so nice to buy out contracts of guys we needed.

didn't they have an open slot after the whole Tony Romo whatever that was?

The handling of that with Liggins, on game morn, really, doesn't speak to lot of planning or in some measure, respect...

perhaps Cuban impusively decided he wanted something back from theCavs after he spent the money to make them available for the cavs.

I just found it awful coincidental regardless of how the actual move was executed.

The Mavs were the only team with an open roster spot but there were 8 other teams that could have waived a player and claimed Wiggins ahead of the Mavs.

I actually thought the far bigger favor worked on behalf of saving $2.5M in tax for the Cavs. I'm sure the other owners didn't appreciate their tax shares getting cut. It will seem suspicious to me if the Mavs waive Liggins before training camp starts. That would suggest they didn't really want Liggins after all but were doing a massive financial favor for the Cavs. If Liggins gets a shot with the Mavs in 2017, then I think both Cavs and Dallas will have profited from these events.
