Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If somebody told you guys they were into fencing, what would be your first thought of them? I’d probably initially think they were a weirdo and then think about it a little bit and be kind of intrigued by it.

I actually do think it looks interesting. Not sure if you’re being serious or not. Would have never thought of it.

You know me. I’m a passive aggressive misdirecter not a fighter.

@gourimoko I do spend a lot of time outdoors by myself. It’s not enough. I need an outlet for actual aggression.
Have you tried standing up for yourself to your son?

Are you doing any minimalist/survivalist camping or camping but relying on bushcrafting skills?Have you ever gone hunting?

No on the first. Have not hunted, only fished.

That’s the other thing. This fucking guy loves to fight and he’s getting really good. He’s going to need to get into a martial art and I feel like he’d be perfect for bjj. He’s a sweet kid but he’s an animal. I think it’d be cool to get into whatever he does.

If someone told me they were into fencing I would assume they're either rich or a bond villain or both. Not a bad perception.

I'm not sure why I thought of it but that's the only sport I could think of that is a limited contact dueling sport.

We did fencing in gym at this private school I went to. Also we made our own stilts and believe it or not I fucking walked with them. The good old days.

Tried a rowing machine yesterday . No way in hell it burns less calories than elliptical
I thought about trying that at the gym. Think it would be bad for someone with lower back issues?

If you do it right, rowing is brutal as hell. Works your core much better than an elliptical. Stroke is push with legs, pull/lean back with core/back, pull with arms. Get up to 33-36 strokes per minute.

Caveat is that it might not be as great if it's not a good machine.

Not if your form is good. Key is to keep your back as straight as you can and not hunch over. Usually, the best way to do that is simply keeping your head/neck up and looking straight ahead. Get a better workout that way as well. It's actually a fantastic exercise to help your back because you'll strengthen your core and work all your back muscles. Helps posture.

I’m buying a gently used pro form 440r row machine this weekend. Excited to get going on it.

Oh nice! Let me know how it is. Also how much are you paying?
I was going to buy it for $200 but she now says her boyfriend wants to use it and it’s off the market. Back to Facebook marketplace!

Fuuuuuck. I PR'd on front squat the other day. Big benchmark: 315. Went well below parallel just like my other videos I've posted on here. I started recording, but, when I went back to my phone after the set, nothing happened. I haven't gone up to the next plate in any free weight exercise since I hit 315 on bench in 2015. Ob well, I will get another video by doing it again.

I'm frustrated big time today. I have about 40lbs to lose and I am trying to do it by eating healthy and working out. I lift 3 days a week (Stretches, Planks, Bench, Squats, Dips, Rows). It's about 30 minutes and there are some variations but those are the basic muscle groups I'm working on. I have been on a lower carb diet. Not perfect but certainly have reduced my carb and sugar intake over the last 2+ weeks. Weighed in today and I'm up 4.4lbs over 16 days. Clearly i'm not doing this right. I know muscle weighs more than fat but this seems out of whack.

I haven't mixed cardio in and that's probably been where I'm missing the most. Thoughts?

Edit- I also had a killer work out Sunday AM after my ex pissed me off on text. I was an animal :chuckle:

Have you been drinking more water than usual? It could be water weight. I've been working out every day over the past four months but I haven't weighed myself even once. I go by how I feel, how my clothes fit, etc. I'm down 10 pants sizes over that period. Not weighing myself has been really helpful for me. In the past I would get frustrated when the number on the scale didn't reflect the work I felt like I was putting in. Not weighing myself makes it a lot easier to stay motivated.

I don't obsessively weigh myself, maybe once a week. Twice at the absolute most. I have been drinking more water for sure but I always drank a good amount of water. For the most part I have cut my beer consumption down from 5-6 beers a week to 1-2 and Diet coke from 5-6 a week to less than 1 replacing all that liquid with water. Basically I drink 2-3 cups of coffee in the AM and it's all water from there.
