Dion Waiters

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He looked pretty good yesterday. Hit a nice step back at the end of the fourth. Seems to have lose weight and the white cHeat home unis agrees with him.

I mean he looks like Dion. Streaky player than trends on the side of not good. 35% from the field so far, high turnover rate. Just..you know, not good most of the time.

It's crazy that Cleveland sports have distracted me so much to the point that i didn't even know Waiters was on the Shheat this year.

Decent game last night for him, might have been his best as a member of the Heat. 23 points, 7 boards, 4 assists, no turnovers, a bit inefficient, but that's typical Dion.

He's a very plus defender..

His ts is around .400. But his 3pt % is .350

Needs to limit his role. should be proto typical 3d player

Yadayada

I've always said he needed to stop shooting all those long 2's, but he needs to become a better shooter period if he even wants to be 3 and D. 31% so far this year and 33% for his career leave a lot to be desired. Still... better than his numbers inside the arc, I guess.

He is shooting 36%. Can't believe we got Shumpert and Jr Smith for him. AAAAND OOONE!

He can't do it. He doesn't want to do it, and he's never going to do it. And it's why he'll be in China next season.

I'd be surprised if he's getting this much play in Miami if he's not doing what asked.

That might mean he's part of the tank though

I feel like he gets it. I have nothing to support that theory, but mortality (his bro) and losing all that money.. I just can't see that not being enough a kick in the dick.

I'm gonna start watching them more

Dion isn't a 3 and D player and it wont be his role.
He is a proficient ball handler with excellent passing skills. He can also create his own shot.

He should be taking 13-17 shots a game and getting 4-6 assist as well as playing defense including rotating onto the 3 if a mismatch occurs.

Dion shot selection( forcing shots or out of rhythm ) and willingness to extend the play with his passing as well as holding on to the ball too long has always been his shortcomings.

He can dribble and penetrate .

Are his numbers at the rim and ftr still bad?

Rubio can't finish but he still draws enough attention to bring defense out of position and pass. I can see him also in that role.

Is it just a lot of step back long twos? Why is his 2pt fg% so low

.410 from 0-3 feet (career low). .286 from 3-10 feet (tiescareer low). .333 from 10-16 feet (ties career low). .382 from 16 to less than 3pointer (not a career low), .308 from 3 (not a career low), .536 from the line (career low)

Dion just can't shoot from anywhere, which doesn't stop him from taking 22.6 shots per 100 possessions, the most on the Heat.

You're being so kind. Just admit he was a mistake and move on. I know that's simply not in your nature, but please. It's not just that he takes bad shots, it's that he actually can't shoot. In particular, the dude cannot finish at the rim with any consistency.

I'd also like to say this mythical ability to create one's own shot isn't really an ability if one never makes them. Anyone can simply jack up some awful shot. If that's "creating" a shot, then everyone in the NBA has that ability. JaVale McGree can go throw up a shot from anywhere on the court whenever he wants.

Dions jumper sweet spot is 15-19 feet this season. he is hitting 45% from that range so far.

He is only shooting 30% in the paint down 10% from last season and has been blocked 10 times.

he shoots within 5 feet as often as he does 15-24.

If Dion is dribbling he is either driving to the basket or taking the pull up Jumper. once he gets within 15 feet he is pretty much driving to the basket.

if we look at what he is doing this season
http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/203079/tracking/shots/

Dion's shooting drops dramatically if he shoots off the second dribble.

His role is a bit different this season than the last two but we only 12 games into the season

If Dion managed to keep himself on the court on a team that went to the conference finals

“He changed his game,” Thunder forward Nick Collison said. “When he got here, the ball would stop when he'd get it. By the end he was really good at shooting open shots or driving and moving it. He was one of our best two-way wing players. He did a good job for us.”

“I learned how to win,” Waiters told The Oklahoman on Friday about his time with the Thunder. “I pretty much learned everything I know from OKC.”

“At first, I was (disappointed) but then it was like … life goes on. Once the team was pretty much broken up, I kinda figured where it was going, so I just wanted to make the best decision for me. Not for money or things like that. I wanted to go somewhere I could have fun and try to prove myself.”

Dion has a leadership role in Miami and has been given more freedom than other coaches have allowed and he still is a gym rat putting in the work off the court.

I think we will see Dion Continue to evolve

Continue? Where is the first part of the evolvement?
