Dwight Howard Saga

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Except Wade's clutch when it counts...

Yeah because a basket in the last minute of the game is worth more than it is in the first 47 right? LeBron is better than Wade in every way, and he is younger and isn't a walking talking bowl of china. If the Heat break up the big three they have to trade Wade or Bosh, it would be laughable to trade LeBron.

Um... never said it was worth more, but it sure as hell is more valuable in a close game in playoff atmospheres..

Not at all. If you had just scored the basket in the first quarter than your team wouldn't be down.

If you have a mental block that prevents you from performing in the biggest moments of the season and your career, that's a major, major problem - and certainly lowers a star's value. Averaging 30, 8, and 8 is meaningless if you constantly fail at the end of the game The only question with James is whether he can finally overcome that

A bucket at the end is more valuable. Playing for the score at the beginning makes no sense. It's the accumulation that matters and keeping up. You have no idea how many points you will need to have by the end. In the last minute you have a good idea of how many you need to win. The other team reacts to how many points your team has already scored. So if they respond you have to score more. You could absolutely still have the score be tied having scored 78 or 80 after 47 minutes, it depends how the other team reacts. They might take more 3's to catch up if they are really down, for instance or just push the pace for more posessions. That's why buckets in the end are worth more. Defenses usually tighten up more at the end and it is harder to score too, so a score when the game is tougher is absolutely more valuable than a bucket when no one is playing D and they are easy to come by.

Looks like Howard has a herniated disk. The Magic should have just completed the trade they had in the works at the deadline. Howard is just all kinds of bad karma.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Magic center Dwight Howard was diagnosed by a doctor in Los Angeles with a herniated disk in his lower back, a team spokesman said.

Howard, who sat out the Magic's 109-81 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night, officially has been ruled out of Orlando's game in Cleveland on Sunday.

Including Sunday, Howard will have sat out six of Orlando's past eight games, a new personal high for missed games in a season (he missed four games last season).

Magic spokesman Joel Glass said Howard was examined by Dr. Robert Watkins after Howard flew to the West Coast earlier Friday for a second opinion for what previously had been called back spasms since he injured his back at the end of March.

There is no timetable for his return and it will be based on how he responds to treatment.

With the playoffs fast approaching, the reigning three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year's absence leaves the Magic all the more concerned.

"Are you kidding me?" the Magic's Glen Davis responded, according to the Orlando Sentinel. "It's going to be tough without him next couple weeks. A herniated disk? That's crazy. Dwight isn't playing, everybody has to step up. Everybody."

The Magic (34-25) are 1-4 without Howard this season. Before this season, he had missed only two games in his career because of injury; the rest were either because of illness or suspension.

Magic coach Stan Van Gundy says Howard was in pain after the team's practice Thursday and the coach wasn't optimistic he'll be ready to play against Philadelphia on Monday either.

The Magic are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

I hope Dwight's injury keeps him out indfinately. The guy's a clown.

I hope the Magic don't fall into 7th and give the Heat a ridiculously easy first round series...

I remember Glen Davis stepping it up earlier this season when Howard was out. He had Howardesque numbers too. Let's hope that Davis does the same thing against us.

Let's hope for prime Wilt numbers against us. 50/27 sounds good to me.

This story is at best suspicious. He had to go to LA to get a second opinion that his disk was "partially herniated" and he needs to rest until the playoffs start. It is entirely possible the Orlando lineup would lose out, and if Milwaukee cooperates, the bucks could replace the Magic as Chicago's first victim. If the bucks lose, he gets to the playoffs and his aching back becomes his version of Lebron Elbow. Allowing him to sit on the bench in a suit for the debacle. But he'll be fine once he gets to Ny or La.. Dwight has finally beaten Lebron at something, he has become the largest vagina on the planet..

And now this..."Howard and forward Hedo Turkoglu (facial fracture) are sidelined indefinitely. Coach Stan Van Gundy said before the game he's preparing to play the rest of the regular season and the playoffs without the two players."

I don't feel bad for Orlando at all. I hope things only get worse for them. Fuck em.
