Dwyane Wade: Back to Riley (#CavsLifer)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If you heard Koby than it is the right thing to do. They want to play the young gunners more and reduce Wade's role. He was offered the choice to stay or return and he chose to return to Miami while LeBron was involved in the whole process.

Just the right thing to do

As long as it was his choice. Trading Wade for no reason at all is stupid.

I'm sorry but nothing about this was "right". He should have played out the remainder of his contract and then done a one-day signing with the Heat so he could properly retire there.

If anything, the infusion of youth was great for Wade because he could take more time off to be ready for a deep playoff run, where his true value was always going to be for us.

Having Wade negate Livingston and make clutch, championship plays down the stretch was something I was greatly looking forward to. How could he and LeBron not close this one out together as a "last hurrah"?

I don't support any of this.

I think he was part of culture problem. I doubt he had a bad attitude, or said any bad shit, but his "special" status with LBJ may have led to some of the souring.

There were reports of him being partially responsible for drama with Bulls last year.

If LBJ is happy with the move, then there's really nothing else to say about it.

You called Wade old and never wanted him here. You love to bitch no matter what happens.

Incorrect, I never wanted to trade assets for Wade. Who wouldn't be okay with getting the guy on the vet minimum?

You love to change your story depending on the narrative. Ex: right above you. You whistled Wade's praises all year like a railroad baron only to surmise he was a poor fit in the locker room once traded.

I loved having Wade. BUT if LBJ is cool with him leaving, so am I. That's perfectly consistent.

They were saying trading Wade will be good for LeBron too as far as the culture was concerned. Because now, LeBron can’t shut himself off from the rest of the team and only confide in Wade, he’ll actually have to interact with the rest of the team and build chemistry.

I'm in the same boat. If LBJ is OK with it, then there's obviously more to it than we know. If LBJ would have been against it or perhaps not consulted, I would be VERY anti this move. But it sounds like D-Wade wanted to return home and I have no problem with that. I like him as a player, but lets not act like he's still a superstar. He was a strange fit for our team with his current abilities but was a good bench option.

The funny thing is the odds of a Cavs vs Heat 1st round match-up are pretty high.

Very pleased with this deal. Wade was adversely affecting the CAVS. JR lost his status as the BFF and pouted. Cedi wasnt playing because of him and most importantly for the NBA of 2018 he cant shoot.

Wade's old man "I'll say anything to anybody because I've earned that right" attitude is part of what always got the locker room riled up. I mean that in the sense that a lot of the smoke of mutiny was likely started by Wade having a disagreement with the coaching staff. It happened in Chicago and it happened here.

I agree with you. I was looking forward to "Playoff" Wade.

However, I don't think Wade really had the gumption to watch young guys take his job and I don't think he was going to sit quietly and watch it. I don't think he was going to pull young guys aside and help them as much as he should be.

I like Wade--but the dude, no matter what he says to the media, is an ultra competitor and has an attitude. That's what made him so good in his prime. He would've riled the locker room again.

Wade was given the choice by Koby as a favor. LeBron was involved. If this was the choice he made, I'm cool with it. I think it saves us some potential chemistry issues.

There was a whole lot of changing the atmosphere in these deals. Wade was known as a locker room problem in Chi last year, and at the very least he was a problem with JR for a while. We were missing a lot of the "fun" that we've seen out of this team over the years, and the reports with Wade last year were that he sucked the fun out of the room. Getting rid of him and IT alone might have been addition by subtraction. I'm pretty stoked about the other acquisitions.

From Zach Lowe's ESPN article:

"Wade is a legend, and for a while there, he propped up a frisky bench. But at 36, he was mostly just another non-shooter clogging LeBron's driving lanes and playing zero defense.

He shot a lot, too. An aging veteran who loafs on defense, jacks with the frequency of a borderline All-Star, and scolds others for their mistakes can sap morale even without really meaning to -- or acting with malice."

This is what I had heard about how he played last year too.

I think everything but the d is accurate. He did clog the lane. He was a good defender no dount. One of the only bright spots in that regard
