Fantasy Football 2018

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I was supposed to draft for my sister but couldn’t and most of her team was autodrafted. The only QB on the roster is Matt Stafford, so one of her friends felt bad and offered her Dak Prescott for Robert Woods. The rest of the receivers are Mike Evans, Adam Theilen, Keenan Allen and Amari Cooper. Also it is not a PPR league. I don’t really know much about fantasy, is this a good trade or no?

Don't do that. You don't need a backup until the bye week hits. Grab one off the waiver wire.

Matt Stafford is a perfectly fine QB, and as long as the league is single QB, there's really no need to roster more than one because there will be a dozen of them on waivers at any given time.

Just remember...Matt Stafford virtually always finishes as a QB1 in fantasy. He won't be the number one QB, but he'll almost certainly be top ten, or close enough to the top ten in average weekly scoring that it makes little difference. He was QB7 last year in my league's relatively standard (four points per TD) QB set-up.

Got the 9th pick in my 12-team, zero PPR money league. Looking forward to seeing which RB drops there because someone took a QB in round one. :chuckle:

Lol.

After about 5 years of drafts the rest of my main league have finally caught on to the fact that you shouldn’t take a QB that high.

So I'm in an 11 team 1PPR 6 pt per pass TD on ESPN.

QB: Newton
RB: Zeke, Lamar Miller, Burkhead, Connor
WR: Hopkins, TY Hilton, Flash, Jeffery, Hurns
TE: Kelce

I'll hold Connor til a bell comes back.

Question is would you drop Hurns to pick up Breida? I'm a little thin at RB, so I think it's a good move but Hurns might end up being a legit #1 WR. Thoughts?

Yes, with only 11 teams you can find a WR3 in free agency very easily, but a Kyle Shanahan passing downs back who can actually play a little is way better value. Breida is talented but a little on the brittle side.

Plus he's pretty stacked at WR anyway. Better to take a shot at a RB who has a chance to vastly outperform his draft slot. Even in PPR, I'd usually prefer starting three good RBs to three similarly good receivers.

Thanks, done. That's what I figured but sometimes I think to go against the grain (with Hurns). Been almost no talk about him but he's got a great opportunity in front of him. Odds are I can get him back if I want (and there's other options on the wire - Beasley and Gallup, Cole from Jax, Lockett, etc).

Hurns definitely has a good shot of being fantasy relevant again this year. That said, if guys like Cole and Lockett are on waivers, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I tend to think that depth at RB is better than depth at WR. Good RBs are just more valuable, so you can always trade them if you hit on more than three.

Did my 12-team money league draft tonight. Snake, 9th pick, standard scoring (zero PPR).

QB - Patrick Mahomes
RB - Leonard Fournette
RB - Christian McCaffrey
WR - TY Hilton
WR - Amari Cooper
TE - Benjamin Watson
FLEX - Dion Lewis
K - Will Lutz
DEF - Bengals

BN - Sony Michel
BN - Adrian Peterson
BN - Robby Anderson
BN - Tyler Lockett
BN - Matt Breida
BN - Chris Godwin
BN - Aaron Jones

Banking on bounceback years for Hilton and Cooper. Not entirely confident in that WR group, but the way the draft played out didn't leave me with much else. Hopefully one or more of the lottery tickets on my bench hits and I have some trade bait to bolster WR.

Hmmm...after a saw this was std league, I felt less good about your RBs. This is a decent team, but not sure it's a league winner. If you waited on QB and TE as it looks like, I would have thought that your WR would be stronger.

Very, very good team. Is this a keeper format? As you know I like Watson as a late round flier, plenty of chemistry with Brees lying dormant. Eventually you will need to make a move for a more predictable QB. Mahomes is going to be up and down, IMHO.

It's single QB, so there should be guys on waivers.

No keepers. Wasn't in love with some of the selections, but the guys I really wanted kept getting sniped a pick or two before me so I went with some bounce-back candidates like Hilton and Cooper and some lottery tickets on the bench. Hopefully I hit on one of them and then I can trade for a better WR.

A lot of it was luck of the draw. I could have taken Hopkins in the first, but I opted to go with Fournette instead because he's a perfect standard back. In the second, someone sniped Cook right before my pick, so I was left choosing between McCaffrey and Devonta Freeman if I wanted a RB. I think McCaffrey has the higher ceiling this year, and I think they're going to use him more between the tackles, so I went with him. I could have had Keenan Allen there, but give me a RB all day every day in the second in standard. McCaffrey is more than a pure satellite back anyway.

And yeah, my receivers are a little weak, but it was a situation of me picking between several guys on the same tiers. With Luck back, I consider Hilton to be a potential WR1 and probable WR2. I also expect Cooper to be better with a presumably healthy Carr this year. Carr was awful last year, but he was coming off a nasty injury so that's to be expected. I think he'll be closer to pre-injury form this year, and there's a new coach and offense to boot, making Cooper a prime candidate for a rebound year.

I figure guys like Jones, Breida, and Michel are great lottery tickets who have a chance to become top-tier fantasy assets this year. Same with Godwin, who is better than Mike Evans, and eventually the Bucs will figure that out. I'm very high on Lockett as well, especially with Baldwin hobbled this season. The Seahawks are gonna suck, and bad teams air it out, making someone like Lockett a potentially great asset this year.

Ok, I am just joining a new 10 team league this year and there are some pretty funky rules, but it sounds like it will be fun.

I need some strategy advice. It is a keeper/auction/draft combo.

The league allows you to keep a guy you drafted last year. If he was in the top 30 last year, he costs you part of your auction money. If he wasn't top 30, then he's free. I inherited David Johnson, so he's free.

Also gone are:

D Cook
D Hopkins
C McCaffrey
E Elliot
L Fournette
M Lynch
J Ajayi
AJ Green
K Hunt

Now...I have $100 to bid on the top 30 guys that weren't already kept.

Antonio BrownWR . Doug Baldwin WR . Russell Wilson QB
Keenan AllenWR . Travis Kelce WR Cam Newton QB
Jarvis LandryWR . Rob Gronkowski WR . Alex Smith QB
Larry FitzgeraldWR . Todd Gurley II RB . Tom Brady QB
Michael ThomasWR . Le'Veon Bell RB . Kirk Cousins QB
Julio JonesWR . Alvin Kamara RB . Carson WentzQB
Tyreek HillWR . Melvin Gordon RB . Philip RiversQB
Adam ThielenWR . Mark Ingram RB . Matthew Stafford QB
Marvin Jones Jr. WR . LeSean McCoy RB . Drew Brees QB
Davante Adams WR . Carlos Hyde RB . Dak Prescott QB

Now the decision comes down to this: Any remaining money a team has after the auction, they can use to bid on their draft position. So, if someone wants Saquon Barkley OBJ or someone else, they need to save their money.

Confusing enough?

How would you approach the auction? Any guys you see that could be potentially had for cheap? Going in cold, I don't know how these auctions go...was told that no year is the same.

I did the above league tonight. It was a learning experience, but I think I came out good. The strategy really came down to whether or not I wanted to bid on several guys or just one or two and hope for a top two pick to grab OBJ or Saquon. I ended up going with the several player option.

I grabbed with my $100:

Davante Adams $36
Gronk $29
Doug Baldwin $15
Russell Wilson $9
David Johnson (Free keeper)

My remaining $11 bought me the 7th spot in the 10 man league. I had the 3rd smallest amount left.

My team...10 Team, PPR:

QB: R Wilson
QB: J Winston
RB: Da Johnson
RB: J Mixon
RB: A Collins
RB: C Thompson
RB: D Guice (as a potential free keeper for next year)
WR: D Baldwin
WR: D Adams
WR: C Davis
WR: E Sanders
WR: K Stills
TE: R Gronkowski
TE: J Reed
PK: G Zeurlien
TD: LA RAMS

Did my 12-team money league draft tonight. Snake, 5th pick, PPR-scoring (0.5 PPR). Start 2 RBs, 2 WRs, one flex.

QB: Patrick Mahomes
QB: Alex Smith
RB: Ezekiel Elliott
RB: Derrick Henry
RB: Mark Ingram
RB: Tevin Coleman
RB: Nick Chubb
WR: Tyreek Hill
WR: Robby Anderson
WR: Nelson Agholor
WR: John Ross
WR: Anthony Mason
TE: Rob Gronkowski
D/ST: Vikings
K: Matt Prater

The stupid draft client screwed me over in R2. I clicked on Devante Adams and it gave me Gronk, but I've gotta roll with it I guess. My RBs are extremely nice when Ingram gets back, but three of the five have the same bye week. WRs are a crapshoot outside of Tyreek Hill - I'm hoping one of Robby Anderson, John Ross, or Anthony Mason really breaks out since they're all projected to get a lot of targets this year.

12 teams, PPR Kamara 12th round rookie keeper.

QB: Kirk Cousins
RB: Alvin Kamara
RB: Jamaal Williams
WR: Antonio Brown
WR: A.J. Green
Flex: Doug Baldwin
TE: Zach Ertz
K: Wil Lutz
DST: Falcons

Pierre Garcon
Robby Anderson
Rex Burkhead
Isaiah Crowell
Bilal Powell
Get to keep 2 rookies so took a flyer in the late rounds on
James Washington
Tre'Quan Smith
