Will Burks just get Korver’s minutes? And is he just an even poorer man’s Rodney Hood?

I assume he will get Korvers minutes plus alittle more. It's going to be hard for Drew to manage minutes for everyone once they are healthy. It seems to make it easier lately to figure out the rotation with these injuries. Add Burks, Hill, Dekker, Nwaba, and Love to the guys who played tonight and it becomes confusing who should get minutes and who doesn't (outside of Harrison).

Will miss Kyle ultimate pro and doesn't deserve to be in this miss right now. Wish him the best of luck. Also to all the people talking about Fultz there are legit middle school girls up the street from my house that shoot better then him right now.

Why are you watching middle school girls?

A bit of a bummer because I like Korver. Ultimate pro, smart player, works hard.

But ultimately this is better for us. The organization is focused on rebuilding and developing young talent, so 2 picks and a young guy that we can trade is looking better for us.

Korver fits so well on the Jazz too.

We did right by Korver to be honest...bottomline. IF we wanted to maximize the value we would have waited till the deadline. A lot of desperate and struggling teams would have wanted Korver. There are a lot of contenders that are in win now mode and are playing well below expectations that would have been fucking desperate.

It's still an okay trade if we manage to flip Burks at the deadline for additional assets, but Burks to me has no value for us as a player. He is like Clarkson...just slightly less crazy.

Korver always has that foot thing going on so perhaps that’s why they traded him now. Plus we got a better deal for him than most of us thought we’d get. I’d be surprised if he stays healthy if he’s playing say 15-20 min a game in Utah.

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed though for that reason. We just got a bunch of nothing for Korver, who was a desired vet shooter. There were multiple contenders who wanted him and we unloaded him for what amounts to 3 meaningless assets.

Future second rounders are the equivalent of a used napkin. Burks is a corpse. Guy adds absolutely nothing to a rebuilding team. The only way this trade is a net positive is if we flip Burks' contract.......which is to say you have to make two trades to try to win one. Clearly our front office didn't learn anything from our last foray in to the trade pool, where we tried this same thing and it was an unmitigated disaster.

Obviously wanted Korver to go to a good situation but this is another example of our front office dealing from a position of power and giving up all that leverage in favor of a bunch of spare parts.

I think Altman generally is in way over his head and this doesn't really do much to change how I feel about him. He can prove me wrong by getting something for Burks but I would imagine he will dump him somewhere for a middling player and another second round pick. We watch Korver play well and contribute to a contender and our return will be second round picks who will be in the D league or playing overseas 5 months after they are taken.

I think you way overvalue what a 37 year old role player could return. Especially one with foot issues. Good move to dump him now. Burks expiring has value to move later. And you got two picks to use for future trades as well. And you did right by Korver trading him to a contender instead of dumping him in say Atlanta

I'm not arguing there is theoretical value in an expiring contract. I am arguing our front office is terrible at extracting real value from the available assets we deal.

Altman loves to make moves that require additional moves for them to make sense in the bigger picture. The caveat was mentioned above that you could flip Burks for something and that could adjust your opinion on this trade......but we also have a glut of contract assets at this point.

Any player with some promise at all, would have been better than what we got. He can prove me wrong by turning Burks in to something useful, I'd just bet against it.

What would have been a fair return for Korver, in your mind?

If other teams were offering better young players and/or higher picks, why would Altman have turned them down to take Utah's offer?

For a team that doesn't have any second round picks to trade for the next 4 years, getting two second round picks and an addition expiring that they can use at the deadline should help us make deals. My guess it Koby realized it's hard to deal when you don't have things like 2nd round picks to grease the wheels.

Burks might not have the value as a player like Korver did but I think his contract has better value and usablity. Korvers contract was so low that a matching contract to be viewed as bad would have to be a player that had a career ending injury or just straight up doesn't belong in the NBA. Teams also want to clear contracts completely off the books not have unused guaranteed money in their cap.

Since we got back an expiring and not taking bad a bad contract, I am actually shocked we got 2 picks even if 2nd round for a 38 year old Korver.

Nice trade all things considered.

I disagree. The seconds have value, especially to cap strapped teams drafting at the end of the first round. Those can possibly turn into something else.
Burk is an expiring that again, has value to a team needing some sort of relief.
Finally, Kyle is old, and they did him a solid (yet another player the Cavs are doing the right thing by- it adds up)
Altman is really just getting started. He got the lottery pick that jump started this whole thing. Sexton looks like a good pick. He acquired some young talent and they already re-signed Nance.
I’m sure they looked for a better deal for Korver- it wasn’t there. They don’t want to simply hold onto him, that would be a horrific mistake.
Assets, assets, assets. That’s the goal right now.

Korver played hard for the Cavs. LeBron, Cedi and others really benefitted playing with him. It's just a shame he never got a ring with Cleveland. According to Vardon the lockerroom is really disappointed to see him go.
Wishing him the best of luck in Utah!
