Does anyone listen to audiobooks? I drive 50 minutes to and from work everyday so those would be nice to listen to. I really want to start reading A Game of Thrones but I just don’t have time.
I've recently started commuting to work and have been listening to the Game of Thrones audiobooks even though I've read the books several times. They are really good, although strangely the fourth book has a different reader than the rest of them do and a few of the pronunciations are way off to the point that they are jarring at first (neither of the two readers are anywhere close with Brienne's name, for example).
Yeah I noticed he pronounces Petyr’s name totally different.I've recently started commuting to work and have been listening to the Game of Thrones audiobooks even though I've read the books several times. Started The Expanse series. Really enjoying the first book. Reading again has helped me relax and de-stress and it’s been nice getting wrapped up in a good story for the first time in a long time.
I got turned on to the Expanse by my son, and was hooked immediately.. reading the last book released now..Started The Expanse series. Really enjoying the first book. Just wait, man. It gets fucking wild in the later books.
In a good way.
I was so happy when Amazon saved the show precisely because I really want to see that crazy shit unfold on screen.
Got me pumped. Awesome.
Bumping this because I just finished Joe Abercrombie's latest novel, which is the first in a new trilogy set in his First Law world. It's called A Little Hatred and it was really good, although it felt a little on the short side. Maybe I'm just too used to reading Martin's stuff, but I seem to remember the First Law trilogy books being longer. Oh well. Still really good. I think it takes place some thirty years after the original trilogy and follows a lot of characters who are children of the key characters in the original trilogy.
I highly recommend it if you're a fantasy fan, although you should 100% read the other First Law books first. I think there are six of them, a trilogy and then three stand-alone titles that expand upon the world and continue the stories of many key characters from that trilogy.
And now season four is out and was great. Can't wait for season five. You checked out the fourth yet?
