Damn, someone beat me to vote for Allen. :chuckle: Was it you @sportscoach ?

Haha it was not at all! I didn’t vote on this one since Allen actually isn’t my vote for the Browns. Darnold I think will be the guy for Dorsey at the end of the day.

Can we keep this from being anonymous so we can publicly shame all those who vote for Josh Allen?
I wanted it to be anonymous so that #shyvoters could express their opinion on Josh Allen without feeling they would get publicly shamed lol

Pretty good comp, though important to note than Jim McMahon was also a sub-average QB throughout the entirety of his career.

I am well aware of that, plus he played with one of the greatest defenses ever.

Just talking attitude/leadership comparison. McMahon was the perfect QB for that team and one of the main vocal leaders (along with Singletary). Walter was a lead by example guy, more like Joe Thomas.

I think the Browns could use a vocal leader on both sides, plus he was very accurate. My opinion only.

Also note that McMahon won the Super Bowl with the possible greatest defense of all time and a top 5 RB of all time.

Always a recipe to win the Super Bowl. Has been since Super Bowl I. Ask Foles, Flacco, Dilfer, Rypien, Shroeder, Simms, Theismann, Bradshaw X 4, Namath and Starr X 2.

Probably could even throw in Montana and Aikman some and a host of others, but they both happen to be top 5 QB's of their time.

Its funny, but Philly winning the Super Bowl shows as much as things change, things stay the same. Elite Defense, good Running game and game manager at QB will win the big game since the 60's and it did in 2018.

Goodness I love Josh Rosen’s skills... Just kinda like the temperament and leadership potential of Darnold more in conjunction with skills and size...So I’m on the Darnold train..

That said— I’m more than willing to go the Redskins (RG3/Cousins) route and take a chance on Luke Falk later in the draft as well..

I went Darnold. I think his first year shows what he can do with a halfway decent offensive line and better players around him. I also put more emphasis on accuracy in the short/underneath routes, anticipation, and ability to hit guys in stride than in the longer throws. You can be really successful if you're above average at that, even if you're only average at the longer stuff. So that, plus the ability to throw on the run, puts him over Rosen for me.

That being said, Mayfield is intriguing. I just don't trust the Pac-12 when it comes to quarterbacks. Just too long a history of guys with great numbers doing poorly in the NFL.

This post just confuses the shit out of me. :chuckle:

What if Lamar drops to the second round?

Not sure ? Perhaps.. I’d just feel a bit better about still acquiring plug and play talent in round 2– whereas in that case you’re most likely looking at a situation where 2 of your top 3 picks probably wouldnt (or shouldn’t) see the field in 2018...

But if Falk was there in round 3/4 I’d definitely consider it..

We're not drafting two QB's with Stanton locked up and Tyrod being the unquestioned starter.

Another QB will come about somehow some way with this roster..

I agree that they probably will not draft another but I certainly would not be opposed to them doing so...

I can't see then doing it because if they draft a second QB he will be delegated to the Practice Squad. I don't think they would waste a draft pick on a Practice Squad player when they can just bring in an UDFA or a camp arm.

I went Mayfield. My preference would be:

1. Mayfield
2. Rosen
3. Darnold

I do wonder how close this race actually is. It seems like ever since Darnold’s rainy pro day, it’s been non-stop with him at #1 (with the occasional Allen nonsense).

Again, I go back to Scot McCloughan, Dorsey’s friend and Draft consultant. I’m sure it’s not just him beating the drum for Mayfield in Berea. I’m fascinated to see what happens next week.

I'm good with the qbson the roster and at #1 this year unless they can get one of these other guys in the second. I think they should hold off on drafting the 3rd+ round backup until next year.
