Four Gay NFL players might come out together

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It amazes me that such a small portion of anti-gay America is represented in the media. This country has moved on and these players need to come out so I don't have to see and hear about this shit anymore. It's one of the most annoying and immature topics we currently debate. I'll be glad when this is over because I couldn't care less about anyone's sexuality whether they "throw it my face" or not.

Agreed. The sooner I get to quit seeing Republicans on Fox News equating gay marriage to fucking animals, the better.

I'm sure if there was a gay dude hanging out with my friends and I growing up, he would have grown pretty tired of us analyzing every pair or tits and piece of ass that walked past us. That's pretty much the same as flaunting our sexuality. To say that a gay person putting his sexuality out there would be hypocritical for most people.

I hope it's some high profile players and not some backup longsnappers or kickers. Aaron Rodgers would be great, but i think he just allegedly got engaged...so i doubt he's one of them. How great would it be if it was Urlacher, Ray Lewis, Gronk and Ndamukong Suh? :chuckles:

I'd say Rodgers is a likely candidate. If Braylon was still playing, he'd be my pick as well. Remember his "close friend?" :chuckles:

I'd say that it isn't exactly a "small portion" .....

Thats about defining marriage. Thread is more about accepting homosexuality in mainstream culture. Apples and oranges.

I really don't even understand why anyone gives a shit if gay people get married. Marriage is a government status. Any two consenting adults should be able to get married regardless of race, gender, or orientation. Now, if a church wants to ban homosexual marriage within the confines of their church, they'd be entirely within their rights to do so. Gays could still get married (in either non-religious ceremonies or within churches that accept them) and most churches could continue to be homophobic. Everybody wins.

I'm willing to bet that the same people that voted about defining marriage feel the same way about accepting homosexuality. But maybe I'm mistaken.

Similarly, I'm willing to bet the same people that couldn't care less that people are gay are also fine with gay people getting married.

Most likely

That's not true. There's millions of people who use their religious beliefs to make decisions at the voting booth. Those same people are probably watching real wives of shah or whatever the fuck they watch that features gay people. Marriage to many on the Christian right is a sacred right in which they think should be between a man and a women. The tide is starting on turn on that as well. Here's Bill O' Reilly getting in trouble for saying "they are thumping the bible when it comes to gay policy".

Odds are some of these players have already told their teammates and they all know and have kept it quiet. I think when they come out the teams will look like they support it as well and you'll hear more players support marriage equality openly. It will be much better when you hear "The (Insert Team Name) support gay marriage" and really get more people behind the cause.

I was the one who said it is very likely that a Browns player is gay, and after I posted it I regretted the way I worded it. But the legal brief submitted to the Supreme Court by Chris Kluwe and Brendon Ayanbadejo was supported by eight other players; half of them were on the Browns last year. Scott Fujita even went so far as to write an opinion column in the New York Times in support of gay marriage. (It is a great article, by the way.)

While not making it very likely that a Browns player is gay, it would not be surprising to me if one was gay and this was his teammates' way of showing their support for him. Either way, I think it's great that they're standing up for what they believe in.

It was mostly defensive players too if I remember correctly, which makes me think it's a defensive player that was on the browns last year and maybe still on the team.

And Alex Mack and Chris Gocong. I think it is very likely that a Browns player is gay.

Or maybe they aren't just ignorant, meat-headed, dumbasses? A player on the team doesn't have to be gay for them to support the issue. Quite honestly, I find it unbelievable that so many people are still so opposed to gay marriage / gay people in general. It's not like gay people are lessening the pool of eligible "straights" to choose from. Most aren't even making many forms of PDA. Sometimes people just need an issue to rally against, even though it makes little sense when you break it down.

We all deserve equal rights, right? More than likely, every player in the NFL has played with a gay teammate at one point in their career, but they just don't know it yet.

The fact that people are seriously saying that it's very likely that a Browns player is gay because they support gay marriage is laughable..

Or maybe a fellow player on the Browns disclosed he was gay and it opened some eyes on the team. Sure a fellow player doesn't have to be gay for them to support it, but it could be a linking factor. If your brother was gay, wouldn't you be more vocal and supportive regarding gay rights? Its likely. I think something similar could be the case here.
