Free Agency Rumors

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You're right that Mayo isn't exactly a stabilizing presence in the locker room, but he is certainly talented and put together a fine season with Dallas and they got him for a decent (though not great) contract. If even marginally so, he's also a better fit with Jennings in their back court than Monta was and is an acquisition that I can't really fault given the direction they seem to be wanting to take their team.

I cant back you up on his fine season. I feel like Mayo is one of those players who can make the stats look OK, but does not really help the team win. He struggled to be consistent in Memphis, who got better without him, and then played pretty OK but not James Harden or Terry great on the Mavs, who ultimately missed the post season. Jenning may be on eof thise as well, but in any case I think the bucks are on the treadmill of mediocrity. He has been in the league long enough to grow up and make a difference, but seems unable to take that next step. I think this kind of player is the poster boy for what the cavs are trying to avoid. They are looking for players who can commit to being the best. Tristan, Dion, Kyrie of course.. I think that is the main property they are looking for.

Mike Miller signs with the Memphis Grizzles:

Memphis and the Thunder made the most sense, that and the Rockets.

I can't really argue against the contention that Mayo isn't exactly a winner, but you're being a little uncharitable to him here. Dallas failed to make the playoffs, but remember they were without Dirk for their first 27 games. The Mavs managed to at least stay afloat during that period - going 12-15 in the competitive Western Conference - and Mayo played a big role in that with his 19.8-4.0-3.7 stat line on excellent 47-49-85 shooting over that stretch. He still struggles with consistency and has his shortcomings, but I think he has figured it out a little bit.

I'm in total agreement with you that the Bucks are a team just treading water, but that seems to be what Herb Kohl wants of out of his franchise: always in the playoff mix, but never a true contender. And as you alluded, the latter is the antithesis of the approach the Cavs are taking.

I will allow I am being uncharitable. I got interested in Mayo early, but he has never achieved what I thought he was capable of. I dont know the man, so there might be a myriad of reasons why, but the results speak for themselves.

i'm not sure how to feel about this, apparently Charlotte fans are happy about it, but I can't seem to like it

Supposedly Granger to the Suns for Scola. Interesting for both teams, if true...... Reported by HoopsHype.

Not liking the Mo Williams to Miami rumors. That would suck to see Mo rejoin LeBron after he shit in his face.

i don't understand why Indy would do this, unless they wanted to clear cap, Scola isn't that different from D West

Because any time you can upgrade your backup PF from Tyler Hansbrough to Luis Scola you do it 11 times out of 10. Indianas biggest weakness was their bench and they've done a great job building it up this off-season. Quietly one of the best off-seasons in the NBA.

Reports from Argentina that Scola is headed to Pacers have been circulating for last hour, but latest word is Danny Granger is NOT in deal
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) July 27, 2013

Really love what the Pacers have done to bolster their bench. Adding Watson, Copeland and Scola is big and they can now bring a healthy (maybe?) Granger off the bench as well.

I agree. If Granger is content with being the 6th man and still playing about 30 min a game at the 2 and 3, I don't see a need to trade him. I'd say try and win a title with him in the last year of his deal, and if he walks away at the end and you get nothing in return, oh well. With the guys they added and the emergence of George, a healthy Granger off the bench would be more valuable for Indiana than almost anything they'd get back in a trade. After additions they've made over the off-season, the Pacers could go:

Starting 5:
PG: Hill
SG: Stevenson
SF: George
PF: West
C: Hibbert

Bench unit of Watson, Granger, Copeland, Scola, and Mahimini.
