Game #1-Cleveland Browns vs Miami Dolphins-September 8th, 2013 1:00 p.m. EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I thoroughly enjoyed DeCastro trying to illegally block low, and taking out Pouncey for the season.

My next door neighbor is a Steeler fan (how I moved next to the only one in Nashville, I dont know) and he fired up his riding mower after DeCastro took Pouncey out for the year.

Dirty play that came back to bite them in the ass.

This killed me. :chuckles: What are the odds? Only could happen to a Cleveland fan.

Edit: well, I guess it happened to a Steelers fan too.

With a name like DeCastro, he has to be an asshole.

In regards to my typo earlier that made it sound like I said Brandon Weeden was good...

Remember when people were crying that we should have taken DeCastro instead of Weeden?

Let's just call it a wash, although I don't see Weeden actively physically hurting his own teammates.

Really the only positive thing I took from the game was our linebacker play. They filled the gaps in the run game really well and held Miami's run game in check the entire day. Kudos to that unit. I thought they also did a decent job of getting in passing lanes in the middle of the field. Tannehill hit a few throws behind them, but in totality, that unit was one of our best units on the day.

Offensively, if our o-line and especially Mitchell Schwartz are that bad, you might as well let Jason Campbell start. Weeden is a statue and it will be a long, terrible year for Browns fans to watch him get decimated. I understand the (3) picks weren't his fault, but the offense looked awful even if those balls are caught. It'd be great to see Weeden get a fair shake and execute a Norv Turner offense all things being equal...I just don't think we have the offensive line to allow that happen. Which is sad with the amount of resources we've put into the offensive line. And how is Oniel Cousins even on the roster? Patrice O'Neal would be a major upgrade and at least make us laugh instead of cry:

I think your OL is actually pretty good, but I (perhaps homerishly) think the Dolphins DL is just one of the best in the league, and by the 4th quarter the Browns stopped trying to run (allowing the DL to tee off). 3 of the 4 guys (Starks, Soliai, and Wake) have been to the pro-bowl (and 2 are in contract years). Wake especially is a monster. Odrick was even a 1st round pick, and is finally playing in the right position as a DT. Dion Jordan was the 3rd pick overall for a reason (even if you felt he was a reach at 3, he was going top 10 somewhere).

And as I said before the game (to counter another poster's opinion), the Dolphins are hardly weak up the middle.

Also, I think some people in here (should have quoted it directly) are underselling Hartline's ability. Is he great? No. Physically imposing? No. But he does the little things well, has sure hands, and is extremely consistent from play to play (all things you want from your #2). Last year as part of one of the worst receiving units in the NFL he managed 1,000 yards (including a 200 yd performance against the Cardinals which your current DC was a part of) while consistently going against team's #1 CB.

As I said in a previous post, I think your defense will be a monster going forward (even if not this year specifically).

And I know some people think the Dolphins are a bad team (hence feeling so disgusted with the loss), but I predicted 9-7 for the dolphins personally, and I think next week's game will show whether I'm too foolish or not. But who knows, maybe Miami is one of the better teams the Browns will face this year, or there can be some games that (despite a difference in talent) are just bad matchups for one team, and maybe that was this for the Browns.

Has to be the dumbest play of the year so far.

Good thing the season has just begun.

DeCastro will be seen as a better pick than Weeden. I'm sure of that. As for the Steelers, their defense looks stout still, but it's time to fire Haley. That offensive performance v. Tennessee was pitiful.
