Game 43: Cavs @ Pelicans, Monday, January 23, 2017, 8:00 PM EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
LeBron should have realized Kyrie was on fire and just lived or died by what he did on offense, and focus on defense. Instead he made a dumb turnover that cost the game.

LeBron needs to shave and bring LeStache back, this will solve 99% of our problems.

Tonight seems like a good night for me to bump my rant in the Ty Lue thread about why he's not a great coach.

I get your point, but our team as constructed now is more in tune to outscore opponent than actually defend. For us to have only one person doing the bulk of the scoring is bad. Plus the FT misses are bad. I would have loved it had we outscored them even if our defense was bad cos right now we need some positive momentum. We are now under .500 vs west teams.

I would have loved it too.. and then tomorrow morning realized what major trouble this team is in currently. Ya just don't give that many points up to this team. Period.

LeBron's recklessness stems down from the fact that he has been playing 40+ mins.

That is on Ty.

LeBron is currently leading the league in terms of Mins Per Game. That is unacceptable.

So you want a coach to tell LeBron to sit down ? Dude ... come on ... you know it doesnt work like that. I expressed my concern about LeBrons minutes last year and the truth is there. No way Lue wins an argument with LeBron.

Alarming.

Must be the sweaty palms.

He grows inefficient when he's tired. LeBron has played 11 January games. In 6 of those he has played 39+ minutes. He just finished a stretch of 5 games where he went for 42+ in 3 of them. And now Lue's asking him to essentially play and defend New Orleans' starting center? That's not his fucking job.

Just admit man, LeBron's workload was way easier with Delly ball handling and dishing to LeBron.

It's a good point. This mantra of regular season not mattering has been taken too far. He can play hard and establish dominance early in games but is refusing to.. and as a result, this happens.

I mean, I get it. He wants to get Love and other guys going early and get his late. That's fine. That can and will work. However, he has to put at least a modicum of effort in defensively. Yes, the team as a whole was bad on defense, but LeBron is the leader, so it falls on his shoulders.

If you're going to conserve energy on offense, you have to use it on defense.

It's not the 1st time he's gone away from a hot hand. That and FT shooting are my two biggest pet peeves of lbj

So I said this last year and he found another gear. So at the risk of being wrong on this again, maybe LeBron isn't the best anymore and the decline has begun. Got pummeled by Durant. Then smokes by Us who. And now tonight.

If we cared a lot about defense then Korver is not who we would have traded for. Someone said it in this thread and I think they are right. Defense is going to be a problem for us. Apart from KI, LBJ, Shump and Swish .. I do not see any other noteworthy prime defenders. I am not going to lie to you and say that our defense is acceptable, but the truth is the way we are constructed even if we let this team score 120+points, we can score 130+.

Except we are not.

I know we have all been blaming LeBron for the turnovers for a while, but how many more corner 3's will Love miss ? What is happening with Frye ? Korver is nowhere near his Atlanta self. All three of these players can only space the floor and score, not defend. So if they are not scoring then what good are they ?

Again to repeat, I am not disagreeing with you on our lack of defense. I am more worried about our lack of offense (Not Kyrie, but Love/Korver/Frye even Shump) than our lack of defense.
