Game 54 | Cavs (37 - 16) @ Minnesota (21 - 34) | February 14th, 2017 | 8:00pm EST | <3

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The only problem is if he was in a Cavs uniform, where would those two good games a year that make him look like he might actually be an all-star come from?

We'd just have a younger, dumber, worse defending, weaker Rudy Gay clone that got passed up by Jabari Parker pre-ACL injury.

LOL So he only plays well twice a year now? He's avg 26 this month..

On the same night we praise Derrick Williams we act like Wiggins wouldn't play better here either.
Thats' harsh!

1) you discount the King James factor. Defensive intensity and the beauty of passing--just might have rubbed off!
2) we will never know what our team would have looked like with Wiggins. Folks seem to assume we would not have added additional talent.
3) but I'm cool with Love, especially the confident Love I saw this season. But alas, the snake bit (again). Go Cavs!
I'm convinced people have to put down Wiggins in order to make them feel better about Love. When Love being a heck of player should be enough.

Im with you on the defensive intensity, and maybe this isnt what you meant, but Kevin Love's passing is one of several skills he has that make him such a unique player. Incredible passer for a guy his size.

Maybe now that he's out, people will start to realize how good he is and what a great fit he is on this team.

When Kevin Love was 21 he averaged 14/11 and won 15 games for the YEAR. Wouldn't it be crazy to say he doesn't have the IT factor and would never be an all star in the west?

Then in his third year, he made the leap and averaged 20-15. and then the next year...26-13!!!!

Wiggins is not making "the leap". That's the problem. He's marginally better. A tiny bit.

And I also see a timid attitude on the court, I don't see a will to win, and I don't see or hear about a superstar work ethic.

Wiggins could use a summer with team USA. Honestly.

Not saying he CANT become great, but I just expected a little more IMPACT by now, especially with the talent surrounding him and the coach he's been blessed with.

Kevin Love's 3rd year in the league he averaged 20 and 15. And shot 41% from 3. He actually improved over time. Wiggins just takes more shots.

Wouldn't he actually be with team Canada?

How about JR, Iman, Frye, Korver...man, and now Williams. Griff is a magician if you ask me. A few more days until the trade deadline so it'll be interesting to see if he pulls another rabbit out of the hat.

I'm still hoping for Rudy Gobert...

Love + Shump ought to get it done, right? It's a win-win! Cavs and Jazz meet in The Finals for years to come!

Team Canada is going to be HYPE in the next World Championship. That Big 3 of Wiggins, Thompson, and Bennett will be absolutely UNSTOPPABLE.

I think so.

I was just saying, he could use a summer around the best of the best, watching them workout, prepare, etc.

For his third year in the league, Wiggins looks way too much like he did as a rookie physically. Why the hell hasn't he turned into a beast from an NBA training program yet? I know he's only 21, but he should have made a lot more progress if he put the work in. He has ALL the physical tools to be a fucking monster. He should have 15-20 more pounds of pure muscle by now.

young teams do not win in the nba. they (wiggins + team) will need to bring in veteran talent to make the impact leap.

Problem is, though, Love hasn't really been healthy since Obama was president... And he hasn't really played a full season since Antonio Scalia was alive.

Both teams had the exact same numbers in fastbreak points, paint points and fouls so how did the Cavaliers win?

They got LeBron James, bitches!

And his team improved from 15 wins to 17 wins.

The year the T-Wolves finally won 30+ games was the year Love only played 18 games.

It wasn't until Love was 25 when the team cracked 40 wins.

There were LOTS of people who thought Love put up empty #s for years. Heck people questioned Love his 1st year with the Cavs.

I'm a huge fan of him, but lets not act like Love was some surefire all star and act like Wiggins isn't progressing very nicely for a 21 year old. Its just silly to act like he's not.

His only issue was being compared to LeBron out of HS.

Wiggins isn't even the best player on his team, and Love did a damn good job carrying the Wolves with his supporting cast, not a playoff team but they won a lot of games for having no talent whatsoever besides Love. If Love played with a guy like Towns/Lavine with Thibs coaching, Wolves would have probably been a lot more formidable.

Wiggins is FINE, as a player, he's good, but from what I've seen, I don't think he's a future all-star. Maybe once or twice, but not a perennial all-star, IMO. I see Wiggins as kind of like, the next Rudy Gay?
Why is it so hard for Cavs fans to praise Wiggins? Alot of us here said that Dion Waiters is the next Wade and Anthony Bennett could be an all-star...

Right now Wiggins is averaging 23 points on 46% shooting as a 21-year old. He is much better than Leonard, PG13, Jimmy Butler and DeMar DeRozan were at that age. Will he be better than those players? Who knows...

I don't have a problem praising Wiggins, I'm saying the same thing the guys that get paid money to talk are saying. He can score but does nothing else. He might even be the worst case of a one dimensional player, ever. Is he good at scoring? Sure, but he doesn't do it with a lot of skill. He has a great feel for scoring, knowing when to cut, etc., but his shooting is predicated on his athleticism.

He also gives you crappy defense, crappy rebounding, and crappy ball movement. Comparing him to guys like Leonard and Butler is a huge disservice to those guys, as they could always do more than just score.

Also, as boobie said, why the heck is he still so skinny? Dude is three years in, he should be a lot stronger than he is.

I thought that, coming into the league, Wiggins had the athleticism to be an elite defender, but was rough on the offensive end? What happened with that? Why has he turned out to be a decent scorer and a crappy defender? Did he just work on one end, but not the other? Or were reports of his potential as a defender always premature?
