A lot of threads/posts on how we keep Lebron and bring in all-stars with magic fairy dust. I get it. It is the most fun scenario to discuss and fantasize about.

However, I might be in the minority, but I think Lebron is leaving and I want to discuss the most likely scenario even though it isn't as fun. I have thought Lebron was leaving for months now and I haven't convinced myself otherwise which is hard with all these hopeful Lebron is staying threads on RCF.

All the best to Lebron if he leaves. He delivered on his promise to Cleveland. He gave me my first championship. I got to celebrate the championship with my city. I got to watch IMO the best player to ever play the game for much of my adult life. I'll personally root for Lebron whatever team he joins. That definitely wasn't the case when he originally left for South Beach.

So to my question....... Lebron has left. Maybe we do an S&T and get some high first round picks? Maybe some roleplayers or expiring contracts? What can we get for Love, TT, and JR? Love probably has the highest trade value but I honestly don't think we would get very much in return. We might hold onto JR for a year because he will have a nice expiring contract to trade later.

IMO you gut the team as much as you can and start the rebuilding process which includes 3-5 years of high lottery picks. The first couple of years without any exciting young talent are going to be rough. And no, Cedi and Zizic don't count. Hahaha.

40 years of wandering in the desert, then we cross the mountains, and on the other side, more desert.

Two options.

1) You do what Philly did. You get lottery picks year after year making sure you suck bad enough that you keep picking top 3 and hope that when the next game changer players pops up in the draft you are in a position to take him. You don't "scratch and claw" or "scrappy" your way to titles. You look for guys with high upside and take them and hope they pan out before the first wave can leave in free agency.

2) You add decent vets and the occasional late lottery guys and try to be competitive. You will be better than the 10-12 tanking teams and worse than the 6-8 teams that have top stars but you will win enough to make the playoffs from time to time and get whacked in round 1 every time.

I prefer option 1 though with so many teams now doing the same thing the luck factor has increased even more.

It really should offend everyone involved.

Fellas, have the strength to look away. Call your parents and tell them you love them. Go to the library and learn to replace outdated electical outlets. Do whatever keeps you busy before the Cavs and LeBron make a decision... Because I've personally spent darn near half my life keeping the trolls away and I need a few more weeks of normalcy.
