Great replacement for NBA League Pass

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I always wondered why streaming sucks for me, it has everything to do with your internet speed right? Streaming of anything on 12-18 mbps sucks for me, I guess I need like 100 mbps

You're talking about League Pass?

Bro, I'm on a 100/10 line and it's GARBAGE... League Pass is the fucking worst! It's almost criminal.

Yet the NBA has ILP, which is INFINITELY better. The only stream I have ever seen that could compare would be Fox Sports' 4Mbps streams which are, IMHO, the absolute best available sports streams in existence.

But outside of that, ILP is the best. Also, latency is around 5 seconds (just my human comparison to box score update on ESPN/Yahoo/Google), which means I have lower latency than fucking Charter cable... ugh........

With my luck, my shit would still lag and stuff. I will stick with the tv LP package, just sucks I am missing tonight's game bc its not being offered yet so I have to hope there is a torrent by tomorrow.

Yeah, fuck that... I watch all the games.

Thinking about recording them and handing them off to others to place in their "backyard" so to speak. Not sure if they're already there... Will check.

Oh I watch ALL the game there is just 1 or 2 preseason games I have to watch torrented because the tv package isn't available at the time of the game. Why I would justify paying for ILP when I am just doing it for 2 games to watch live is beyond me. I want tv quality, so my only option is the tv package, so I can watch 1 or 2 meaningless preseason games on a day delay and on my shitty computer with a torrent.

Well, perhaps your area is better.. NBA LP TV quality, that I've seen, is fucking awful. The 4Mbps stream from Fox Sports is shitting on your League Pass "TV quality." ...fax... :chuckle:

But seriously though, the 3Mbps stream for the NBA is far better than anything I get from Charter Cable; flat out.

I guess I am a sucker for NBA LP but that is my only viable option for having it on my tv in tv quality and not in crappy streaming quality. Why am I so bummed to be missing a game tonight that none of the starters are going to see any time in? It's not like I am not going to see the game, I have some Russian sites that end up uploading torrents of EVERY game even preseason so it will be seen, just not live.

I feel it..

How good is the quality your getting from your cable provider? When you say "TV quality," is that 1080p/60fps?

1080i 60 fps

Is it really 1080i or is it 720p interlaced and upscaled to 1080i?

Also, 1080i isn't 60fps bro... it's 60hz. 1080i @ 60hz is 29.97fps and suffers from judder.

I'm sure your cable provider is better than mine; my shit from the BOX is unwatchable, IMHO. And it's "1080i." I get much better quality from streaming (i.e., Netflix looks better than Charter Cable over the same coax).

My understanding is that satellite providers are offering the best quality possible.

ok I am not good with the jargon, I do know it says 60hz when the tv is turned on from an off state. I would imagine its 720p upscaled but to me it looks way better than any I would get from my internet.

Its definitely not perfect but I can see a considerable difference tv versus internet. But that is probably because I have crappy internet. TV stations aren't going to go full out 1080p and 60 fps for yrs, its not economical.

As Americans, everything electronic in our use is 60hz, including our TVs. That's the frequency of the electrical current coming from the power-plant. In Europe, their stuff is 50hz (PAL).

FPS means "Frames per Second," and describes a COMPLETE frame, i.e., if you looked at it, it'd be a still image of what you were watching. 1080i means 1920x1080 interlaced. Interlaced means each frame is only half of the complete frame; thus, you need 2 interlaced frames in sequences to get 1 frame over the 2x the period. Thus, 60i is downsampled to 29.97fps. The way this works is that your eyes see the flickering between the two interlaced states of Frames 1 and 2 and composites the image in your brain, but, this makes interlaced images appear darker, with less contrast, and detail; they also suffer from some judder in fast moving scenes on progressive scan displays.

The alternative tradeoff is 720p; but, depending upon the size of your monitor, 1080i may look better than 720 due to upscaling. The difference in quality depends on the upscaler you're using. TVs can use frame interpolation to smooth out the difference between 30fps and 60fps but it can look awful; thus, it's generally accepted that 1080i looks better than 720p.

The two standards are actually close, information-wise; 1.036Mpx vs 0.922Mpx. But the difference comes in, again, how well your set handles the upscaling vs de-interlacing.

Anyone, you should try to get a hold of the FSO 4Mbit 1080p streams.. My goodness... They are fantastic.. much better than the crap coming through my cable box. I'm an audio/videophile, so, the shit is kind of important to me.. :chuckle:

They aren't because of 4k, not because of economics. 1080i vs 1080p isn't a big difference in bandwidth since much of the data is compressible.
