How/When does your name color change?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It seems a little unfair to those that want the change, when there are plenty of members from before that already have the gold letters. It's like saying: "Sorry Charlie. You missed the boat by 3 seconds."

Why don't you have an FAQ for colored names so the new members have something to reference. Bright Red is the administrators, Bright Blue is the moderators (second in command), Dark Red is the bloggers and special members. Gold is the donators. Dark Blue is the normal members. That way, it still gives the donators their prize to boot.

Or at least have it out in the open? I don't know. I'm just probing...

Please read what I posted. The gold names are being phased out. Phased out means no one will have a colored name that isn't a staff member. A new system is being planned to recognize people who donated.

Well... at least something will be done. I didn't have a problem at all with any of these colored names. But if staff are keeping theirs, it will still be a good idea to have some sort of FAQ, so the idiots that like to mouth off won't pick a bone with the wrong people.

So we will never have posts like:

"Whoops! Sorry, didn't know you were a mod!" after an insulting response from a know-it-all.

How about a Ribbon/ Medal that says a member has donated?

Where's that signature of Obama making it rain, and it says "dolla dolla bills." That should signify a donation has been made.

Pretty soon, it will be the cool way to have your name colored dark blue.

If you donated you get should get something like the golden penis or have like a wall of donations. Just throwing that out,

while we are at it.... what do the stars and golden dongs represent?

Stars reflect your post count, I'm pretty sure 1,000 posts=5 stars. The miniature O'Brien trophies represent your "rep power". One trophy(penis)= ~70k rep.

My guess is that Kypus is the specialized RCF Fantasy Basketball CEO, or something like that. He's in charge of teams, who's in and out, and what and when you're supposed to update the thing. If not that, he's clearly in the ranking of power on this site, so he has some job here to help things out (and he does a damn good job of it too).

As for the reps, how much is it to just thank someone compared to the old school rep, again? (1 rep per thank? ??? reps per old school rep?)

Clicking on thanks adds to the original poster's "thanks total", which contributes to rep power.

Giving thanks by clicking the person icon gives the original poster your "full rep" or "old school rep" (calculated from a user's rep power). It's a way to thank someone anonymously (or to leave a note) and also a way to reward them with far more rep points (as you accrue them) than the thanks button. For someone like you, rabman, giving rep with the person icon gives far more rep points because you have so much rep power. A new poster who gives "full rep" is comparable to the rep calculated by giving through the thanks button.

So, hitting the "thanks" button is basically "1" (it's the same no matter who uses the thanks button), while using the person icon is variable (1 and higher) depending on the rep power of the thanker. The actual numbers use a different scale internally but that's the basic way it works.

I am all for having some way to recognize contributors, if username colors can't be used anymore. A little logo should do.

I'd also like to mention that it's not 100% anonymous. Anyone can see anybodies latest 10 reps received by clicking on their profile (this includes comments left for old-school rep).
