Hue Jackson and Todd Haley Fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hue Jackson is a clown example 2030594680

Does he feel like he can by with his backup corps of Rod Streater, Derrick Willies and sixth-round Damion Ratley for a few weeks? Or more than a month if takes that long?

"I do,'' said Jackson. "I feel like these guys know our system, know exactly what we're looking for and know how to come in and practice the way we do and understand what the opportunity would be for them, not that I wouldn't like somebody else who could really play.

"But it's just hard to find those kind of guys at this time, guys that can come in and really contribute right away just 'cause they haven't practiced with you, don't know the system. Guys that you have to get caught up to speed, sometimes it just doesn't work out as well.

Browns signed Rod Streater off the streets on September 17th and he's been active in both games since.

What did you want him to say, these guys fucking suck?

Way to miss the point.

Hue saying how difficult it is for a guy to get signed off the street to step in and contribute when Streater (who didn’t even play at all in 2017 either) literally just did it two weeks ago.

It’s just hard to take anything this guy says seriously.

Ratley was a curious draft specimen. Wonder if they’ll toss him in to run a couple go or seam routes and see if he can’t make something happen.

That’s good news though all things considered.

I like both Willies and Ratley. Both showed well in preseason. Lets see what they got in expanded roles

Streater was on the field for eighteen snaps and had one touch that was an 11 yard loss.

Perhaps not the best example of a guy who immediately grasped the playbook and contributed.

By this you mean bad, right?

Not really, he was raw as hell in college but had the measurable and looked like he could potentially be a viable deep threat at times. Given the slot at which he was taken, you could do worse than taking a flyer on a guy like that.

Again, not the point. He could be god awful and never get open.

The point is they signed him off the streets and Hue/Haley opted to play him immediately literally two weeks ago.

So for Hue to say "we're probably going to stick with what we have because it's tough to sign and guy and play him right away" and ignore that they JUST did that two weeks ago with a guy who has less pedigree than Matthews just makes me laugh.

and he played a whopping 5 snaps in week 4.

By this you mean bad, right?

Not really, his story is interesting, actually.

He couldn't cut it coming out of HS academically. Went to a junior college. Got to the Aggies and was a special teamer for about a year. When they finally put him on the field in the offense, he produced like crazy.

Caught only 47 passes, but for 920 yards and 8 TDs in a bad passing attack. That's a crazy average per catch.

Hes kind of raw, but a very good athlete with easy movement skills and good hands. He may take a year or so to develop, but he could become a very good player.

6'2", 4.45 speed, and a 38" vertical. Hes worth the investment.

Again missing the point.

Ratley, who’s been here since April, played 0 snaps in week 4 or week 5

Willies, who’s also been here since April, played less snaps than Streater in week 4.

The point I’m making is this. The Browns signed a guy off the streets who had been out of football for a year and he immediately came in and played ahead of two guys who did OTAs, minicamps, training camp and the preseason.

So for Hue to sit there and try and say the Browns may not sign anyone this week with Higgins out several weeks because it’s hard for someone to step in on short notice and learn the playbook is comical to me because they literally already showed they were willing to do it with a friggin bum like Streater.

Taking the Seattle or Green Bay jobs would 100% be because you wanted to inherit an established franchise QB.

Those two teams 2-53 are pretty ugly otherwise.
I think GB is at least debatable. Rodgers will be 35 before this season ends. He missed half of last year and has already been hurt this year. They aren't in cap hell or old, but have less money and not quite as young as the Browns. Maybe an established coach who only wants to coach for a few more years might take the sure thing in Rodgers. But if Rodgers health fails, that's not good job right now.

Don’t be ridiculous

Obvious what Hue meant was We JUST did it so obviously we don’t want to tempt fate and do it again.

We're in such a great spot. We have this QB we're all excited about. These rookies. This team is fired up. They believe.

.....and then we come back to it and we have this shit-for-brains Head Coach thinking the game's not over, challenging 4th down spots that they are going to go-for/get anyway, messing up timeouts, and generally running around like an idiot making us look like the Bad News Bears.

The Rams have young talent, a good defense, a young QB, and this genious head coach and that franchise is ready....

The Browns have young talent, a good defense, a young QB, and this doofus of a head coach that tries to screw us up at every turn.

And the worst part is... if we fuck around and win 8 games this year, he might get pregnant and we might have to marry him.
