Hue Jackson and Todd Haley Fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

People whiff. It's a difficult position to consistently evaluate. If someone was going to bat 100% on their talent evaluations of QB they would be thrown more money to be a GM than they knew what to do with

I still don't see any reason why they would come out and say they didn't think he would be a top 20 QB. That was just dumb

They whiffed.

Simple as that. And this is what they'll be judged on in the long run.

So they sure as hell better learn, adjust and improve. As any good modern thinker in the game would do, especially a group so noted for their commitment to staying ahead of the curve.

I have no issue with the value they received in the trade or the picks they've made after acquiring them.

But the fact they took a HARD look at Wentz and walked away thinking he wasn't that good is concerning, and while the QB isn't the only thing that matters it would sure as hell go a long way to fixing some of the other issues on this team.

Is this like flat out they said he "isn't good", or more "he isn't good enough for the 2nd overall pick", because those are 2 different things.

And I doubt he looked this good before the draft. Sounds like Pederson is turning him into a junkie and has done good work with him behind the scenes. Maybe Hue and his staff didn't see that in him when they were learning about him pre-draft...wouldn't be the first time that's happened.

I'm also curious to see what happens when he gets a weakness/weaknesses exploited, which will happen...once that is on tape, and every NFL team gameplans to exploit it, then you will find out if he is legit or not if he can combat those things. What separates Cam and Wilson from RGIII, Sanchez, Kaepernick, or any other "young sensation" who eventually flames out.

Hue coached the shit out of that game yesterday. He deserves a lot of credit. I loved the mix of Kessler and Pryor at QB, it kept Miami on their heels. I expected pure awfulness out of Kessler, and he looked solid.

They seem to have been in a no win situation, given how Goff has been handled though. It is likely Cleveland would have been red shirting him as well, so the Wentz lighting the world on fire thing would look bad either way (wether they selected Goff over him or traded out, as they ultimately ended up doing). That kind of pressure could have also just spiraled on Goff (and maybe it still will in LA).

The strange aspect of this for me is people riding the scouts and FO about being wrong about Goff before ever watching him play an NFL snap. It seems like there are people that just want the Browns to be wrong for one reason or another. Goff was the consensus #1 QB but because the Browns liked him over Wentz, they are suddenly incompetent? Seems irrational to me.

Ultimately, they were in a really tough position. They were tasked with asking themselves if they thought the #2 QB on their board was worth the #2 overall pick. If people want to criticize the Browns, that is fine but I honestly would bet my life that 90% of the GM's in the league bail out of that pick given the offer (and the likelihood that someone like Wentz is worth the #2 pick). The ones who wouldn't bail would be entirely desperate teams who want to gamble. The Eagles made that gamble, with pretty long odds and it may have paid off. Guess we'll see.

Almost an exact repost of what I've stated before but the Browns needed everything and we got better at several positions with that trade.

It's also looking like we may have hit big time with Coleman, as well. We're not blowing these picks, we're loading up.

We might have missed on Wentz but this isn't the end all, be all. We still have a shot at getting our guy.

We'll have a shot at one of the top 2 prospects in 2017 and oh, by the way, Kessler looked pretty damn solid for a guy who was literally thrown into the fire against one of the best pass rush defenses in the NFL.

The moneyball strategy is designed to hit most of the time, not every time. For every Wentz, there's a Coleman and a Nassib. I'll ride with the odds.

Coleman, Gordon, and Pryor on the field together can be something really special. Of course, if we ever see it that is.

And it's also fitting for another reason because guys just run through us.

"Jackson's agent is still John Thornton, but Thornton left Octagon and joined Roc Nation Sports. And Jackson has officially followed Thornton to his new firm."

honestly I really liked Wentz in the draft when he came out, but the haul they got for him, was impossible for us to skip in the long run. I like how Hue does things and runs this team and I hope Haslem doesn't give up on Hue and the FO we have after two seasons since I really feel we are now on a good path and we gotta stay with it. We are going to have good and bad days with such a young team, but at least we actually have a team that seems to be on the right path to actually winning

We should add a poll to this thread asking how long Hue keeps his job.

I was a huge hue fan but he's done nothing this season to prove he's capable of leading a team moving forward

Hue needs to give up playcalling duties.

It’s frustrating really. We have one of the best OCs all time wasting away coaching scrub WRs yet hue thinks the shit he’s calling is his QBs problem and he’s done nothing wrong. He simply can’t multitask.
