Hue Jackson and Todd Haley Fired

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As much as I dislike the man as a coach?
I wouldn't wish for him to do it right now. It's probably bad enough that you'd probably get pneumonia or some form of hypothermia. Seriously...go look up what happened to George Allen.

If it leads to him being unable to coach next year, sounds like a win-win to me.

But for me it is far from a settled fact that Kizer is in some way ruined. For me the jury is out on this, and Kizer's ultimate destiny is up to him. I believe there is a decent chance that having gone through the fire this year, there is a decent possibility that this could ultimately accelerate Kizer's development.

That is certainly possible.

However, the variable in this case is that Kizer was so overwhelmed that he performed abysmally, and therefore is unlikely to get the playing time on which to capitalize on whatever experience he may have gained.

Because he was so crappy, we cannot even count on him as our primary "QB of the future". That means the Browns are very likely to acquire either 1) a long-term veteran starter, or 2) a top-draft pick rookie plus a bridge QB. Either way, Kizer is unlikely to get many snaps in-game.

So, I think that largely erases any potential "learning experience" value this season had.

Kizer’s draft position is also a major factor in this as silly as that sounds.

If the Browns had picked him 2 and not 52, he’d be the no questions asked starter going into 2018.

Jared Goff was, by any stat or measurement you could find, the worst QB in the NFL in 2016 and he went into this season their undisputed starter.

Yes but there is also a reason goff went number one and kizer went 52. One of those was a significantly better prospect than the other.

Yes i think kizer will eventually get better, but how much is tge question. when you have the number 1 pick in a draft with at least 2 qbs worth tge number 1 pick and probably 4 or 5 qbs worth a first rounder you HAVE to pick another QB

I still suspect Hue did it deliberately to "prove" to Jimmy that Sashi didn't give him a good enough quarterback. He put that above either 1) getting the best QB play possible, and 2) doing what was best for Kizer's development.

He was using Kizer to win an argument with the FO. And at one point, he even tried to leverage Kizer's poor performance into forcing the FO to get the QB he wanted mid-season.
I won't even try to figure out what Hue's intentions were, or if he even had any intentions to send a message or whatever. I will continue to use the term "inexplicable" as I always have. I just don't have any kind of credible first hand knowledge of the palace intrigue in Berea, nor do I wish to have that kind of knowledge. I just take the results at face value that we suck mightily.

Now my only hope is that guys like Dorsey and Hightower can fix some of what ails us.

Kizer needs to be the 3rd guy behind a veteran and a #1 draft pick for awhile, at least a year. Being on the Browns the kid can always assume he'll get his shot sooner or later after the first two guys get injured.

Well, Haslam is an idiot and Hue is an offensive coordinator who should not be a head coach.

Oh Joe.. I feel terrible that his HOF career is going to be diminished by some Browns fans because he disagrees with them regarding Hue.

Anyone who lets that diminish Thomas for them probably didn’t appreciate him in the first place

I’m imagining them being the subset of fans who every year said “well how many games has an elite LT won us, the position isn’t that important!”

Reactions: Lee
QB, Pass Rusher, LT/CB

Those are the most important positions to have elite talent at. If you have elite talent at those four, you're probably playing in January/February.

As am I.

It really does seem like Joe is trying to help the team with this uptick in his media persona. I'd think it'd go a long way to have Joe involved in the franchise long after he retires; the Browns as it stands have about nobody post-1996 involved. He's built a lot of good will with the fans to the point where some might listen to him during tough times.

We should keep this image pinned. It's supposed to be a glimpse into how John Dorsey looks at position priority.
