I wanna buy a tv

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The TV I'm watching right now is almost 10 years old. Flat panel Samsung. Way too expensive back then compared to now but it's free at this point...

Check out slickdeals.net for good deals. But don't look at anything but TVs or you'll end up spending money on things that you don't actually need.

Also, wait for Super Bowl deals at this point.

Apparently WM has a 55" LG for $250 right now.
Where did you see this?

Sold if you can provide link

I have no TV advice, but this seems like a good thread to tell a crazy story I have about how I got a 55" 3D 4K TV from amazon for free. On Black Friday, 2014, I got such a TV from amazon, but they didn't give me the proper rebate the deal promised. After so many calls to them, they eventually just flat out refunded me $1,500 on accident. That was after they had actually already corrected the issue and refunded me the money they didn't take off with the rebate. So I ended up getting paid almost $400 to take that TV off of their hands because they refunded me the full cost of the TV before the rebate and I got to keep the almost $400 in rebates on top of it.

Just try to get that type of deal, Dave, and you'll be fine.

There's not enough content in 4k right now to make it worth the price premium.
Walmart has a 4k tv for $600. Doesn't seem like a premium price to me. You're right about the content though. Most stations don't even broadcast in 1080p and even if they didd most cable companies to put out a 1080p signal. I do wonder if stations will jump for 720p to 4k.

I would got with a big brand, find one that meets your budget and buy it. Not a fan of some of the cheaper brands, I have had Samsung and LG tvs that have lasted years.

but why?

i buy off brand everything, from drugs to shoes.. i frankly dont see the difference in anything. will it last another 2 years on top of the 7 vizio will Give me?

this is just cost effectiveness.. at my current procedure and history, if I spend 250 and it lasts 3 years I kill my past. meanwhile, technology is going to improve, so 10 years from now a new sony will be shit.

im a minimalist. i dont work to buy shit, i work to not have to work in the future and i want that future to be asap. any purchase i make cuts into my house/investing fund.

im the type that is legitimately considering putting a new engine in my 08 altima rather than buying a new car. i buy recycled tires. theyre 10% cost and last 75% the time new tires would.

Go to local WalMart and see if they have one. Some people in that topic report that they sign next to the TV says $349 but they ring up as $249. One guy asked the manager if they had any, he said they only had the floor model and it was $244 instead of $349, guy showed him that a new one is only $249 and he dropped price to $170...

They have an LG 55" 1080p TV for $250. So you'd pay an extra $350 to have 4k, which you won't use for quite a while? What brand is the 4k? Guessing not something as reputable as LG.

I just bought a Vizio 50' 4K for $479, a week after thanksgiving it went down to $379. I got the $100 back.
My advice, search for Ad scans for Super Bowl week. Buy it early and then get the difference later. Or just wait for SB week that is the 2nd best week to buy a TV.

I know! After I received the money, I decided to wait to see if Amazon would ask for the TV back in case they accidentally marked my TV for a refund, but they never asked for it.
Same situation for me and first piece of furniture out here..

144$ futon bought for 14.4$ thanks to decimal appropriation

Right now the great deals end around 55 inches. After that they go up dramatically. I was tracking prices during December. You could generally find a 55 inch for less that 400. But the cheapest 65 inch i saw was 950 or so.

Best I see is fry's, 55@ 280

If you have a costco membership go there if there is a similiar price. But that's a damn good price.
Anything I see at Costco is normally higher end, but good tip, haven't looked hard
