Iman Shumpert: Gone! Thank God!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know Shumpert has been playing better in the starting lineup but i think it is at the cost of getting the best out of Korver.

We know Shumpert's purpose in the playoffs and it will be defend, defend, defend. Trying to get him more comfortable offensively when he only averaged 3 pts a game in last year's ENTIRE playoffs seems a bit pointless to me, unless we are showcasing him for a potential trade.

If we were actively engaged on defense each night, that would be one thing but it's blatantly obvious the entire team is in "chill mode" on the defensive end at the moment. Shumpert is at his best when he is playing with effort but unfortunately, this team plays collectively, both passively and aggressively.

Curious what other's thoughts are on this?

it's 90% silence or backhanded compliments in this thread.
I thought Shump was much more productive with his out of control play this game. He sure was a ball magnet

Also forcing fewer contested shots made him appear to be more efficient

The reality is Korver isn't going to start once JR gets back anyway. And if you're going to have LeBron in chill mode next to Kyrie and Love, you're better off putting an actual defender out there next to them.

Who are you getting for Shump that is a better fit on this team and helps us in a match up vs the Warriors?

I understood the Rudy Gay talk but that is no longer a option.
How valuable will he be when he's injured on the sideline and giving us nothing?

I'd trade him for all sorts of players. I'm hoping we trade him for Delly straight up. I'm serious as a heart attack.

Delly is easily worth at least 5+ more regular season wins than Shump. And in a bruising series against teams like the Celtics, Delly is worth his weight in gold.

God that would be such a terrible move.

You're lambasting Shumpert for injuries...what about Dellavedova? He's actually been injured already this year. The hamstring. Not the first or last time that hammy has been problematic for Delly.

Delly couldn't even get on the court against the Warriors last year. Literally. Mo Williams was playing over him for the 6 minutes they decided to play a back-up PG.
It's possible to blame that on an injury as well. But then again, I thought you were trying to trade AWAY from injuries?

Delly from 3 this year? 32%. 37.5% from the field!!!!!!!. He lost his starting job to a rookie(Brogdon is a beast though).

The numbers aren't very kind to his defensive performance this year either. Delly is STRUGGLING out there in the real world, without LeBron/Kev/Kyrie.

I'm not sure the Bucks would have signed him to the offer-sheet they did if they saw this coming.

There's a lot of people that I could legitimately see as an interesting idea to swap Shumpert for. Delly is not one of them.

Delly's not an upgrade shooting, he's not an upgrade defensively, he's a versatility and athleticism super-downgrade. He is not a durability upgrade.

He would be better at running a pick&roll, calling out the offensive playcall, hitting TT with a lob, hitting LeBron on the pick&roll.

He'd play less than 10mpg in the finals. If he could stay healthy.

I hate my post on this so much. I LOVE DELLY. I wish we could have kept Delly! I think Delly would be better here than in Milwaukee though, for sure. He can't start and play big minutes. He wears down fast. He's a great story, but his ceiling is probably somewhere right around the player he was before he got injured last year.

But Shumpert for Delly? Are you HIGH?

11/4/2. 40% from 3. (his TS% is .580, up over 10% from last season!!! 1.5 steals a game.

It's my opinion. One based entirely on a gut feeling and nothing more. I hope Shump proves me wrong and stays healthy and contributes in the postseason.

I respect your right to disagree.

I agree with both of you guys.. I wanna trade Shumpert "asap" but I don't wanna trade him for a PG. If we move Shump, we gotta get a player that's a better overall wing than Shumpert is today.

That's not gonna be easy.

Interesting that we picked Korver over PJ Tucker though (given Windy's podcast)...
