Is the NFL in decline?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Goodell sucks.

Sleazy, corrupt. Covering up life and death health issues, covering for domestic abusers, yet coming down hard on borderline substance abuse shit.

Sucks all joy out of the game. Yes, as a product it has declined although the brand is stronger than ever. But for how much longer. Dude should have been broomed years ago.

This league makes me pray the XFL would make a come back.

It's that bad. The league feels "rigged" in favor of certain teams and we're routinely subject to being on the short end of the stick because we're not a part of their "club".

It's a mix of bad football, bad officiating and the league having no clue who their target demo is.

They're playing ANOTHER international game again this monday. good fucking lord.

The Sunday Night Football theme song itself makes we want to change the channel !

When I found out that Carrie Underwood sings it now I was shocked. I thought she was sining it all these years lol. Didn't now shit about Faith Hill until this season.

Have not watched the NFL for close to a month now. Over it. I will probably watch the playoffs but I have had it.

A game that is in Azteca Stadium, which is over 7,000 feet above sea level.

Mile High in Denver is 5,200 feet above and that gives players problems breathing.

But the NFL is definitely concerned about player safety...

At least they picked a safe place...

Looking at this thread, I wonder if there isn't some sour grapes involved with the NFL bashing. I admit that I don't follow the NFL as close. But for me, it is because the Browns have been so hard to watch. That doesn't mean that I think the league stinks though. I like the hard cap and the fact that teams in smaller markets have just as good of a chance to win. Even teams like the Lions, Bills, and the Bengals (not as much this year) have found some success of late. Despite the mountain of negativity you read from the national media making fun of them, a couple of good drafts and the Browns could be respectable. As fans, we just have to hope that we have the organization in place to do so.

They've been shooting lasers in our players eyes the whole game...Trump was right. :(

Wanna know why NFL ratings are down?

The game is blatantly unfair and the refs almost always defer to the BS "can't challenge that play" or "the play stands as called"

Anyone watching tonight's game Houston was robbed 3 times. Twice on a clear as day piss poor spot on first downs in the 4th quarter (one was challenged and, of course, stood) and one play where Hopkins didn't step out of bounds, they rules him out of bounds, and since they blew the whistle it can't be challenged. An 80 yard touchdown whiped off the board because of a ref blowing a whistle instead of letting it play out (he was not out of bounds on replay btw)

Just a horrendously run league and all Goodell really gives two shits about is expanding internationally.

Shore up the product instead of just spamming it elsewhere.

Yep. Let's also move all the teams to LA or Vegas (both known as a hotbed of passionate sports fans). I mean, seriously, moving another team to LA is like giving Charlotte a second basketball team (meanwhile in Seattle...).

Also, stop trying to make London a thing. A business model that is based on the number of expats in town because the natives could care less is is illogical for many reasons. And Mexico City? I'm sure players are clamoring to live in a third-world megalopolis where they'd have to hire an entire platoon of private security to protect their families and themselves from kidnapping gangs, be subject to an arbitrary and corrupt legal system along with the high murder rates, Zika, and crime in general.

Much later P.S.

Let's blind Brock Osweiler with a military grade* laser. Great job, Rog!

* Ask if you must.

They got the first down 3 plays in a row and the refs marked the ball 1-2 yards short, it was absurd. Announcers didn't pick up on it, but Lamar Miller was clearly a yard past the first down marker on 2nd down.

Watched the Bills 30 for 30, and the one thing that impressed me was how loyal Bills fans were during this entire time during their time of success.

I see sometimes as a whole the NFL seems to abandon some of it's traditional, hardcore fan markets in favor of some one's that don't give two shit's.

You gave Jacksonville a team in 1995 over Baltimore for example.

You then...to make up for it? Give Baltimore the Browns forever removing that traditional power from the NFL forever.

That rivalry that we saw? it's forever dormant because of that. It doesn't exist. This isn't the same Browns team. This is like some bizarre franchise that should be playing in Tampa or Arziona..not a market like Cleveland, Ohio which is both sports crazy and football crazy.

You hear Jim Donovan talk about this team, and the "rivalry" we saw this past Sunday? He sounded like a man that has come to terms with a something so horrible that he's left with no spirit at all.

This league in it's infinite greed and in it's infinite stupidity has led themselves down this path. No longer are the common fans and the common fanbases a "thing" save for a few exceptions.

I realize that most of this rant is coming from the perspective of being a Browns fan, but you know? What franchise is a better microcosm of what the NFL has become then the 1999-pres. Browns?

The Browns were a team with a strong, storied history..one of being true innovators. They rounded that out with having an insanely loyal fanbase that was known for it's rowdiness and homefield advantage.

This got taken away from us, and it's place? We're left with one of the most ineffective jokes of a franchise. Coaches that routinely make bad play calls, and a front office that routinely signs the worst free agents and drafts very ineffectively at times while the other teams behind us scoop in for some of the best players of this generation.

A stadium that once had some of the best home crowds ever has been replaced one with one of the most ineffective I've seen out of an organization. You know how emasculating it is as a fan to watch home games where the idiot team out east in the "other" major Rust Belt city run train on us while their fans wave those towels?

Bonus? Most of those people aren't from Pittsburgh and are doing it because they're pathetic losers.

What a joke of a league. Yes, I do blame them for this shitshow we've watched since I've seen this team come back.
