Should we trade Isaiah Thomas at the trade deadline?

Before they traded FOR Thomas, or before they traded him AWAY?

If they didn’t consult Bron BEFORE trading for IT, that’s the worst kind of negligence. Basically disqualifying, for a GM.

It's bad after knowing what we know now. Imagine having Aaron Gordon, Fournier and/or Vucevic while still having a top 6 lottery pick with the ability to upgrade the roster much further using the players that we have and acquired plus our own pick.

We would have been celebrating right now because we would have had a legit shot against the Warriors this year while also having a top 6 pick for next year. Wow.

I think it's ridiculous to not inform Lebron prior to the trade. We lost just tons of value with that trade. We could have gotten other players in that trade or a similar pick from other lottery team plus helpful players without any baggage. I don't think Kyrie elevates a shitty team like the Orlando Magic from the bottom of the barrel in the standings if they add their impact players that we would have requested in a trade like Aaron Gordon, Fournier/Vucevic.

Or Phoenix.

We basically rewarded Kyrie for being a dick-wad.

whichever team you want... In reality we should have gotten very imapctful players PLUS a top 2 pick and both assets turned out to be below expectations.

Wow, trading Kyrie would could have potentially turned this franchise around given the right deal. We are still some what in it some how, but man, we fucked up that trade.

Wait, how in the world do you think a team like PHX, ORL, CHI, or SAC where going to blow through great young assets on a Kyrie who was 100% not going to stay with those teams beyond his contract?

We were limited by the pressure of the public trade demand and the loss of leverage that goes along with that.

We were limited by the 4-5 team list of preferred destinations that Kyrie gave to Dan and then leaked to make sure it was known he did not want to go just anywhere, we were limited by the number of lotto type teams who knew they had little to no chance of keeping Kyrie beyond two years. Especially if they(already horrible teams) gave away several of their best players/picks for him

We were limited by the arms race with Golden State. What team that was at least going to try and put in a real effort to compete with GS(SAS, HOU, TOR, WAS, OKC) was going to do a talent for talent deal and just shuffle the deck, but make no real advance forward against GS. And none of those teams had anything close to the Nets pick to offer.

We were limited by the timing of Kyrie's request going public after the draft and after FA had already begun. Had this been crystal clear earlier, or like @gourimoko suggested, the Cavs had been more aggressively proactive immediately following the season, we likely could have traded Kyrie for CP3 straight up. Jerry West is on eof the few execs from teams not on Kyries list who would have the confidence to deal for him and feel like he could keep him(especially considering West's history with Kobe).

Seeing how much IT and Crowder talk since they've been traded it makes it so obvious why we were able to punk them in the playoffs by the margin we did. It's a god damn shame we gave up our second best player and bailed Boston out of having to pay IT.

Too bad Isaiah’s game can’t match his mouth.

Lakers before trading Clarkson and Nance for IT and Channing Was on a nice little run. Best stretch of play they have played all season. Top 5 defensively on that little run.

Last 2 games since the trade, they have let dallas score 130 and Pelicans score 139.

Yeah, was just coming here to post that. SUPER SMALL sample size, obviously, but the defense has literally fallen off a cliff.

I'm sure he's already broken down the game film to point out where the defensive breakdowns were from tonight's game.

Who the fuck wants to pay this guy who is like instant poison for a team?

Refs having their worst season. He or Rondo didn't deserve an ejection.
