So Long, James Jones

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Guess he's going till the finals streak is over.

Waste of a roster spot. Join the damn coaching staff already.
We still have another roster spot open. Plus we aren't going to get a useful player at this point anyways.

Welcome back Champ. A quiet leader, great for the locker room.

In the days of the 12 man roster, yes. For the 15 man roster, it's fine. Keeps LeBron happy. Literally the definition of a class act, locker room leader who can step up and deliver a necessary message a few time a year when the everyone else is tired of hearing it from LeBron or the Coaching staff

It's more difficult to lead as an assistant than as a player. He can continue to lead our young guys by example.

Being on the team, knowing his role, and calling players only meetings is part of his allure. He's a bridge between the staff and the team.

Sweet. So who's left:

- JR
- LeBron
- Felder (or is he locked in to generic rookie deal? Has to make team first?)
- 15th Man? (DJones? Sanders? etc)

Off-topic...but Felder has not been signed yet. He's not locked in to a generic deal. Cavs could sign him over the summer, wait to sign him until training camp, or choose not to sign him.

Thanks for the info bro!

Worth every penny. This is going to end up being 1-2% of the total salary and tax costs for the roster and he has the kind of impact that Love is describing in the photo above. That's a steal.

And as for the roster spot, as long as one remains open for buyouts or TPE use then it doesn't hurt flexibility at all. I'd rather have 1 James Jones than a dozen McRae-level prospects filling the 12th through 15th roster spots.

Not a sexy or high-upside move, but it's the smart one to make.

I'll take Jones back simply as a level head in the locker room. He excels in adversity. There are glue guys on and off the court and he's definitely the latter. I'm sure he's been in Kevin's ear throughout his growing pains here and that's probably why Love holds him in such high regard.

Welcome back Champ.

Jones, Birdman, Mo Williams, Dunleavy. Man, the Cavs have some real geezers on their bench.

LOL, you forgot RJ.

Counting Felder as signed, we have four players out of 14 who are over 35, and eight players out of 14 who are over 30. Got to be one of the oldest overall rosters in the NBA, although fortunately TT/Love/Irving being comparatively young gives us more of an average aged core.
