Jeanie's got lots of money and cap space to go power shopping for NBA Free Agents beginning in July. Who's going to join the Lakers and their continuing journey through basketball oblivion?
There's lots of speculation on who, exactly, is going to sign up and join LeBron James and the two or three players on the current roster who WON'T be traded away (unless of course LeBron is traded first).
Since the Cavaliers won't be shoppers this summer with no real cap space and still rebuilding from the departures of you-know-who, might as well follow the free agent season and see just how Jeanie does. Will she pick up some premium agents or, like her photo shoot, be left with less than what JR Smith was wearing during the 2016 championship parade?
Hence the contest - complete with a $50 gift certificate.
The object of the contest is to name the free agent signed by the Lakers from July through their opening tap at the start of the 2019-20 season with the highest guaranteed salary for that season only. In other words, list all the free agents they sign -- whichever one is making the most guaranteed money is the name we want. Source will be Spotrac.
Contest Rules:
Simple. Reply back with a name. One entry per person. Once a name is taken nobody else can take it. The name has to be a player who was under contract at some point in the past two seasons OR is an NBA rookie. If the Lakers sign a player that has been out of the NBA for at least two years and isn't a rookie (and I wouldn't put it past them) then that player is disregarded for this contest.
Reward:
A $50 Gift Certificate. Details to follow. Note that the certificate with have no cash value and may include several weasel words and bullshit terms & conditions, but the certificate will have a definite Cleveland connection. It may or may not be "for amusement only". Employees of the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics are not eligible to enter.

If you pick a name and that player is signed by another team, then once the signing is confirmed by a reputable NBA reporter like Woj or Shams then you can select another player who's not been taken in the contest and is still a free agent.
