Jeff Green: Old

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He hasn't looked like the same player since he injured his back. He was way more explosive and ready to slash to the rim before. Now it's 3s and long 2s. Before it was hard slams and posting up guys.
He shouldn’t be playing so much.

Well the emphatic defeat basically scorched any chance of giving him a chance to play this Series.

Or we continue to play him and the series is done in 4 games...

We’re gonna have to have shooters everywhere to open that paint back up...

Not even his fault. He is what he is, very good one night, very bad the next, with no way to predict what is to come. Lue is giving him a role he is entirely unsuited to.

It just blows my mind that Encouraging Jeff Green to keep shooting is the hill Lue chooses to die on

Longabardi's D is the hill Lue is dying on.

And by "D," I hope it's Longabardi's actual dick.

Fuck Lue.

That's true. The lack of options at both forward hurt us. Green is really the only backup for Love and LeBron. Korver doesn't look like he can keep up with the speed of the Pacers guards and isn't strong enough to play with the Pacers forwards. Cedi needs to be inserted into the rotation. Wasting the two last roster spots on a hurt Okaro White and Perkins looks real dumb right now.

Listen, we know you're still crying about Derrick Williams having to play in China but he wouldn't have done shit today either.

It's not him playing in china but us not offering him a 10 day contract while Love was injured. Sorry I'd like some sort of option over Green when he puts up zero points and 4 rebounds in 27 minutes. Okaro White isn't going to be healthy anytime soon and Perkins isn't a NBA player anymore.

I wanted options at that position. It was an area of need. It wasn't addressed. It could easily have been.

WE HAVE OTHER OPTIONS AND LUE DOESN'T PLAY THEM. Do you not get that? Lue playing Green 27 minutes despite only grabbing 4 rebounds isn't a condemnation of our lack of depth, it's a condemnation of Lue's execrable coaching.

Everybody knows that starting Nance is the most obvious move to make, with Green playing a reserve role off the bench...well, everybody but Lue, that is.

Lue will ride the Jeff Green ship to the bottom of the ocean floor and Derrick Williams wouldn't do a damn thing about it.

Im annoyed with how Lue is coaching this team too. I just wanted the front office to exhaust every possible option in trying to make this team better. I'm not sure why you decided to take your anger out on my posts. I didn't even bring up Derrick Williams in the one you quoted. We both want this team to be better than it is. I'm not giving Lue a pass. I just think options would have possibly had him stumble into something that worked. Injuries would have forced the issue.

I've heard podcasts from Windy and Griff that both have said the Cavs didn't really envision Frye making the impact he did in 2016, they basically stumbled into him being a stretch 5 and it unlocked everything. That's where I'm coming from with wanting more stretch big men. I was up for any forwards or centers that could shoot 3s at or better than league average.

Yes Lue is clueless but dumb people fall into good situations all the time. I think we can vent about this situation without personally attacking each other and being assholes about it. If you don't like what I post, just add me to your ignore list and be done with it.

Personally I can't be mad at Jeff Green.. I've said it before and I'll say it again - it's not his fault. This is 100% on our coaching staff for putting him in positions that he can't succeed in.

For example -- if your boss tells you to do a particular job that you're not very good at, you're still going to do it, right? Even if you do that job badly, as long as your boss says "ok lets keep doing this same thing -- nice work!", you're going to continue to do as your told.

Jeff Green is not a spot up shooter and he's put in line-ups where he's a liability. He clogs the lane and teams are smart enough to literally leave him wide open on 3 point attempts. If he's not at least going to attempt the shot, he shouldn't be in the game. But again, that's on Lue. He's seeing something that literally no one else on this earth is seeing. Ironically the film isn't seeing it either, or the stats, but Lue keeps chugging along.

The fact that no other team signed him is a pretty good indicator of the league consensus regarding his inability to contribute.

Both Cedia and Zizic are better options than Williams, and Lue won't play them either. He's going to go with the players who he thinks are the safest choices to avoid criticism.
