Jeff Green: Old

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The fact that no other team signed him is a pretty good indicator of the league consensus regarding his inability to contribute.

Both Cedia and Zizic are better options than Williams, and Lue won't play them either. He's going to go with the players who he thinks are the safest choices to avoid criticism.
In what universe does Jeff green fit in this category lol

Not even his fault. He is what he is, very good one night, very bad the next, with no way to predict what is to come. Lue is giving him a role he is entirely unsuited to.

This is pretty accurate. Lue is to blame, not Green. He is what he is. Green should be getting spot minutes in relief of Love and that's it. He should not be playing C, Zizic should.

I agree Cedi and Zizic are better options than Williams and I also think they are better options for Jeff Green at the moment. The league consensus on Williams was a 10 day contract by the Lakers. The leagues consensus for Jeff Green was a league mininium contract. I'm not saying Williams or anyone else I've suggested would have been the answer or would have gotten playing time even with Green playing this bad. The thing I've been trying to say is we needed options that Lue could turn to.

It's about the front office knowing what kind of coach Lue is and the type of players he would be willing to turn to if someone like Green plays this bad. Maybe he wouldn't turn to a guy like Williams but would he have turn to a Trevor Booker or Spencer Hawes or anyother vet. It's about the coaching staff and front office being able to come to a consensus about usable depth.

Okaro White and Perkins doesn't fall into the category of "usable" right now. Lue is still looking for a PF or Center that can shot 3s to go back the formula of Frye as a stretch 5 that worked for us. It was clear he wanted that after the trade deadline but nothing we did addressed that issue. We left rocks unturned for some luxury tax savings and it might loose us LeBron.

Green sucks, Boston fans tried to tell us this guy is straight awful but we didn’t listen

I don't think it's just Boston fans, it's been any fan base that he has played with. Memphis and the Clippers didn't resign him for a reason. This is a reason why I thought we needed options just in case for Greens role. Alot of people warned us that we can't count on Green, yet the front office didn't deem it necessary to have a backup plan for one of our biggest wild cards.

He needs to play better, no doubt.
The problem is Lue- he’s forcing guys at the five rather than trying the two players he has on the roster accostomed to banging regularly (Ziz and TT).
That would allow the other guys to slide into their natural positions.
Lue failed miserably last night. They blew a 17 point lead against a scoring challenged team. It was one of the more pathetic loses I’ve seen from the Cavs, and Lue is enemy #1.

Because he's a veteran.

So playing a few years in the league is enough to suck as much as possible, without to worry about getting his ass benched? Thats a pretty nice Lue logic lol.

Green was and is still trash. Giving a limited guy like him heavy minutes in the playoffs, noway you gonna win the chip... Give him 10 minutes for defensive energy and that's it..

I loved Green earlier in the year. He had something going with the bench. He has only negatively affected this series. Its really a Shame. I was worried about how to retain him a few months ago .

I've never seen a coach so badly misuse players before. I've seen a lot of dumb coaching, but repeatedly print your players in positions they can't handle and everyone knows they can't.

Jeff was Altman’s answer to Shump

I don't believe that. Green was Lue's guy when he was with the clippers and I think the front office brought him in to defend bigger SF/PFs. I think Crowder was suppose to have that role but could adjust to this team.

Green like Shump were brought in for specific roles and Lue slowly changed and expanded that role. Shump was brought in to be a 3 and D player who should be guarding wings (SG/SFs). Lue decided after one good series that Shump should be a on ball defender on PGs and then started asking him to handle the ball himself.

Unlike Shump I don't think the front office brought Green in to be a starter. He was brought in to be part of a group to defend forwards better and take pressure off LeBron. Lue is responsible as anyone for feeding the fire that is the fools gold of Jeff Green. Lue expanded his role from a bench player that defended forwards to guarding centers then for a short period thought he could be the primary defender of opposing teams primary scorer. All while expanding Greens role on offense.

Koby's fault in this situation like I said above is not creating a true backup plan for when Green would eventually fail.

Huge in the 4th quarter.

I hope Lue learned his lesson. As bad as Green can be, Green >>>> Tristan.

At least Green can handle the ball.

This was a nice adjustment by Lue: he's standing in the corner in some plays but right now when Green is in he actually bring up the court so he's more of a threat to use his size and get to the basket.

Agreed.

Green bringing the ball up and dishing to LeBron in the post, for example, was great.

Green can handle and make some passes. He has many limits, but he does have some skills, too.
