Jimmy Butler Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, let's trade the last remaining star from the only championship in Cavs history, that WANTS to be in Cleveland is a champion in the community and on the national stage for his mental health awareness efforts for a guy that will assuredly leave at the end of the season.

Let's see how the Love contract vs. basketball impact works out. Personally, I don't see reliable player who elevates the franchise to contention, which is how he is being paid. I do see a trade chip IF he remains relatively healthy

The sentimental elements you list in your post are ultimately irrelevant.

That may be how you feel, but that may not be how others feel. And even if it is irrelevant, what's not irrelevant is that trading a guy like Love, locked up long-term, for a one-year rental in Butler is just a bad idea.

In the original post I said "sign", read "extend" Butler. So you are arguing against a point I did not make.

Ironically, it was Love himself who was acquired as a rental, a move I did not support at the time. Luckily for Griffin, he chose to fulfill any verbal commitment he made re-signed with CLE.

Love was in a unique situation because he was happy in Minnesota despite the losing but Minnesota FO and owner didn’t want to commit to him long-term. The discontent started because they valued Rubio more and wanted to save the 5 year deal for him as only one player could get it at the time. He “verbally” committed to LeBron James and the chance to contend and slid right in (it wasn’t smooth) as the third option. He’s obviously in a great place now and is the face of the franchise with LeBron and Kyrie gone.

Jimmy is a malcontent who is claiming the team isn’t valueing him. I haven’t heard any rumors of Glen Taylor refusing to give him the max. It’s not about the money but the respect he says but I’m not buying it. I think he wants LeBron level of control but he’s not far from that in ability and marketability. You don’t trade for a guy like that because he could agree today and change his mind tomorrow.

Has any team approached inny for trade yet ? It seems very quiet.

Would you prefer we have NOTHING to talk about in the offseason? Contribute or go away.

Jimmy Butler is a cancer......wanting to trade a player like Kevin for him is laughable.

I'd take him for a pile of beans, if Minnesota just wanted to dump him for immaterial assets but I've seen enough from him, in the last 12 months, to never want him on my team for actual assets.

Couldnt. A player has to be in the league at least 8 years and with his current team for at least 4 to qualify.

This is something players should fight harder for. More No-Trade leeway. Honestly with the DPE I think they'd be better giving up some of the BRI to allow for more no trade clauses in their contracts.

Butler traded to 76ers for a pile of mediocre players and a 2nd round pick.

I think the Cavs could have done better, but since we are clearly in need of dumping a bunch of our vets, I’m glad we didn’t trade for Butler. And, given the state of our organization, there’s no way Butler would re-sign with us right now.

Would the Cavs really want to sign another guy in his 30s Roma max deal?

Tank. Hard tank.

Now of the joy, of my world is in Zion....(in my best Lauren Hill voice)

One thing to sign this guy but another to trade for him without an extension considering how mercurial he is. Sports media really let him off the hook by forming an image of the ruthless competitor putting a bunch of losers like KAT and Wiggins in their place when in reality he’s been a team cancer and the opposite of a leader.

From the Cavs perspective, Sixers lost a ton of shooting and should be desperate to add Korver now.

There is going to be a huge demand for Korver the closer we get to the playoffs. There are a lot of teams in the playoff hunt (OKC, Houston, Philly, Milwaukee) in need of shooting and Korver is the most gettable.

I think we can finagle a 1st round pick from somebody if we're patient, which would be a great return for Korver (and can we lock this thread btw?)

aint nobody giving a first for korver lmao

we should get korkmaz if possible. Dont know how highly they rate Zhaire or if thats taking the piss abit. But korkmaz should be a target and dallas' 2nd roudner which should be quite high
