Jimmy Butler Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Butler traded to 76ers for a pile of mediocre players and a 2nd round pick.

I think the Cavs could have done better, but since we are clearly in need of dumping a bunch of our vets, I’m glad we didn’t trade for Butler. And, given the state of our organization, there’s no way Butler would re-sign with us right now.
If the Cavs still had James, peering into Butler would make sense even for one year.
But this squad, no way.
But at some point the Cavs are going to have to do something.

Still getting swept in finals, if they make it that far.

This wont end well for the Sixers.
Their biggest hole was an SF who could generate his own offense; they got one of the best in the game, who has already agreed to re-sign for next year.

Outside shooting is an issue but Butler's presence should make things easier for Redick while allowing Simmons to focus more on facilitating. They have plenty of assets and cap space next summer to enlist another capable shooter or two.

The Sixers got a helluva lot better with this trade and anybody who argues otherwise is being willfully ignorant.

They really should trade Korkmaz and a pick for Korver. Run Simmons at the point with Butler, Reddick and Korver roaming the perimeter.

Doesn't work financially.

Philadelphia has to send out at least 6.15M to acquire Korver at 7.56M.

Korkmaz only makes 1.74M. Sending out Bayless in the Butler deal made a Korver trade more problematic financially speaking.

Seemingly the only way they could make it work would be to give up a rotation piece like Muscala or Chandler.

Isn’t Korkmaz unrestricted free agent next year ?

Totally agree. If they can find some shooting, they will be a tough out in the playoffs.

A motivated Jimmy Butler is a damn good two-way player.

There is going to be a huge demand for Korver the closer we get to the playoffs. There are a lot of teams in the playoff hunt (OKC, Houston, Philly, Milwaukee) in need of shooting and Korver is the most gettable.

I think we can finagle a 1st round pick from somebody if we're patient, which would be a great return for Korver (and can we lock this thread btw?)

Dan should probably avoiding trading with them but Boston is another option. Korver would provide them with some easy offense and unlike 4 of their starters and 2 of their bench players, Korver doesn't need the ball to be effective and they could get him easier looks as well. They have a deep roster and 5 picks in the 2019 draft so I think they would be a nice partner.

I’d rather be bad and ride the tank wave until the team that broke the NBA is broken up. Hopefully we can time it well enough to be a contender when they’re coming to a close. Everyone is a fake contender otherwise. Maybe the Rockets aren’t. Maybe.

I can appreciate that feeling, but the all or nothing approach to rebuilding will be much less effective going forward.
