Joel Embid 2016-17

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The 76ers wouldn't be anywhere near as tough a matchup as the Pistons were in the first round last year.

Honestly, as crazy as this sounds, the Pistons were probably the toughest of the three EC matchups.
If Cavs play the Sixers in round one, not only is it a sweep, but the Cavs don't win any game by less than ten points.

Listen, Embiid is really fucking good, Noel is a good defender, Saric is a good playmaking four, Okafor can score in the post, and Simmons has a lot of potential. But the Cavs have five out of the six best players in that series. LeBron, Kyrie, Love, JR, and Korver are better NBA players right now than anyone not named Embiid on Philly's roster.

I don't think Okafor is playable against the Cavs. The dude literally has no lateral movement. It would be like when Drummond played against us last postseason, except far, far worse.

The Sixers also have a total of zero players who can guard either Kyrie or LeBron. I have no idea how they would even attempt to do this.

Sixers are hot right now. People need not mistake that for them being anything closely resembling a threat to the Cavs.

Embiid is better than drummond. The cavs just hacked drummond to limit possessions and prevent det from scoring. They cant to that against embiid. Sure, det were physical, but they also have limited depth.. Good luck slowing down embiid with tt and then okafor comes off the bench.. Both these teams however are poor 3pt shooting teams which the cavs can exploit by packing the paint..
Det this season have regressed and if we meet the pistons it would be another sweep same cannot be said against the 6ers.. They have a good coach, athletic wings, and rim protection in embiid and noel..

Okafor would be a turn style defensively. This 76ers team doesn't have near the shooting, nor the physical wings that that Pistons team did. Nor do they have a pg like Reggie that can make things happen on his own.

People forget that, outside of game 2, the Pistons were right there in that series. Games 1, 3, and 4 all went down to the wire. That wouldn't happen with this 76ers team.

Sixers will give the Cavs zero problems. This is just silly. C'mon now. I'd much rather face Philly than have to deal with a Giannis-led Bucks team or veteran Bulls team for all the reasons I outlined in my post above.

1) How does Philly fight against the massive talent disparity between the two teams? Cavs have five out of the six best players in a series.

2) How does Okafor play against the Cavs when Drummond - a better player on both ends of the court - could not? Okafor would get destroyed when the Cavs send out Love and Frye.

3) How do the Sixers prevent LeBron and Kyrie from scoring forty each? They have a grand total of zero good perimeter defenders - Covington is incredibly overrated in this regard - and nobody even close to LeBron's size and speed? You want to double them? Okay, see the Detroit series for what happens when you double LeBron and the Atlanta series for when you try and double both.

One matchup advantage does not create a problem for the Cavs. This fear is just ridiculous.

The 14-26 Philadelphia 76ers are 0.00% of a threat to the Cavs, can't believe some of the things posted on this forum

If the sixers get 8 seed, the cavs would wise to give up the top spot to toronto.. The cavs dont have the frontcourt depth to defend embiid and okafor.. Not to mention the sixers have a bevy of athletic wing defenders against lbj.. They have great rim protection to counter irving and lbj.. The cavs' 3pt shooting, spacing, and pace must be on point.. The cavs can definitely defeat a young and inexperienced team but the physical toll for a 1st round matchup would be bad going forward.. We need the easiest path to the finals if we want to compete with a healthy lineup against the warriors..

This is..insane.

So you'd rather avoid Philadelphia and instead give Toronto home court advantage?

Honestly, if the Cavs are afraid of the god awful 76ers, just call it a season. Because Golden State has about 30925784293587298357 times more talent, skill, experience, and chemistry. Just end the season now and lets look forward to 2017-2018.

TJ McConnell trying to stay in front of Kyrie Irving... Robert Covington trying to stay with Lebron... Ilyasova on Love.

Look, I love Embiid, the guy is clearly a stud and will only get better the more he plays. He's finally healthy and displaying all that talent, but he cant make up for the entire roster around him, which is a post (still?) tanking disaster.

Embid is so fucking good, He is having a LeBron level impact on his team right now.
In the last 8 games Joel Embiid has played (only 27 minutes per game which is insane)

PTS - 23
REB - 9
BLK - 2.6

The Sixers are also 7-1 in that span

Had the Cavs traded a healthy embiid in a package for Love they would have been crucified for generations to come.
Bullet dodged.
Guys impact is unreal for a rookie or any player for that matter.

But we could only draft Wiggins or Embiid... How could we trade both of them?

Haha, got confused. Then just Embiid cause I don't count Bennett at all. I seriously think this Embiid could have helped the Cavs much more than Love against GSW, even in his rookie season which is insane.
76ers gambled and it just worked.

You seem to think every player that's not on the Cavs would be upgrades over guys on the Cavs. The Cavs taking a guy 1st overall who was basically a 2 year redshirt would've been a disaster, regardless of how well he's playing now. I'll take Love, last year's NBA Championship, and be happy. Go play 2k dude.

Embiid was the obvious choice at #1 until his injury issues came out. At that point picking him would have been crazy. We didn't know if he'd ever be able to play again. And here we are 3 years later and he's finally playing and looks like the player many thought he could be. Good for him, good for the Sixers. Absolutely nothing the Cavs should have done differently, though.

I loved Embiid leading up to that draft, and love him now. But you're exactly right. You take Love & the championship over the enormous question mark that was Embiid & his health concerns. Period.
