Joel Embid 2016-17

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Haha, got confused. Then just Embiid cause I don't count Bennett at all. I seriously think this Embiid could have helped the Cavs much more than Love against GSW, even in his rookie season which is insane.
76ers gambled and it just worked.

Except Embiid didn't play the last two seasons, when the Cavs were in the Finals.

So, how exactly does that help?

I would assume the Cavs were drafting for the Timberwolves, so it doesn't really matter whether they should have taken Embiid or not. That's not who the Wolves wanted.

Lebron level impact? Nobody has a LeBron level impact except LeBron.

Embiid looks AWESOME. I love him.

But man... GTFO here with these. These takes are the worst.

Embiid looks amazing.

At some point, he will eventually have to be able to play back to backs, 4-in-5, and without a minutes restriction. Obviously not forever, but he's gotta put some real workhorse years in if he wants to fully reach his potential.

If his body can hold up through a full NBA season sans-minute restriction and "nights off"(I'm not even saying NO nights off, some games are ridiculously badly scheduled), but if he plays 36 minutes a game, and 75 games, without breaking down, I think we will see some historical stuff put up by him.

@RchfldCavRaised remember the days when we dreamed of him dominating? Just wish it could have worked out in a cavs uni!!

He is so good. If he stays healthy he will be better than Towns, Cousins, and I think even Davis too.
yup. I am still ad he broke that leg before the draft. I recall the Wiggins people trying to argue he had more upside, but I never thought it was even close. This guy is going to be fun to watch for the next decade if the stays healthy.

If only he was healthy from the get-go. There's no way in hell we'd have traded him for Love. Zero. None. Wiggins? Sure, but not this guy. But given the health issues, you had to go elsewhere. Cavs did nothing wrong.

Far and away the best player in that draft. I hope he stays healthy. Exciting talent.

Yeah that'd be a nice core...healthy Embiid, Bron, Kyrie....we could have made all the same other moves and still had extra assets from the Love trade to go get something else too.

Our window would probably be 3-5 years longer.

I thought he had more upside than Davis too, before the draft. It seemed crazy to say that, but his ability to dominate defensively. He's going to be the best defensive center in the NBA if he can hold up IMO. What he's doing as rookie is insane.

I am still skeptical he'll ever have a healthy and productive career though. I'm hope I'm wrong. I want him to do well.

If he wasn't injured in the first place..? I said it in the post prior to that one.
A healthy embiid in his rookie season would have been much more impactful. Picking an injured Embiid with the 1st overall pick is suicide.. not denying that, and an extremely stupid decision too.
What I was saying is that it would have been a really really bad decision had the Cavs traded a healthy Embiid in exchange for Love. And if he was healthy in his rookie season he would have made a serious impact against GSW.

As great as it would be to have Embiid, the Cavs don't win a title if they draft him, so you can't really be that upset.

It's also really cool to see how Philly has embraced him and vice versa. Kind of feels like here after Kyrie was drafted (which means people will start to turn on him next season :chuckle:).

On real 6ers fans there will be people who want to trade Embiid and build around Okafor

Tanked for the season. Great. Have tickets for the Sixers game this Saturday -- no Embiid or Simmons. Like everyone else who bought Sixers tickets this season, I'm screwed.

Serious Oden vibes with this guy.

So much talent, but a body that can't keep him on the floor.
