Is Longo really out? I read on plain dealer that there would be some coaching holdovers... My greatest fear is Longo would be one of them, was expexting him to be gone with Lue, but boy I was so wrong...

It definitely wouldn't make sense, IMO. Longo is mainly a defensive assistant and that's JB's biggest strength. It would not make much sense to keep them both on the same staff and having them try to merge schemes. JB's scheme is excellent, has been for a very long time.

Where is THIS emoticon, when you need it?

Cavs hire a new head coach with a long resume, but no NBA experience.
Cavs then hire a young associate head coach who was a runner up in the head coaching search.

Anyone else feeling Deja Vu?

Someone said Longabardi was out, but I have not seen him mentioned in anything. His contract was up I Think, so they would have to actively hire him again, which I hope they will not. Hoping Posey and whoever the shooting coach is stay.

Without LeBron the dynamic, while superficially similar, isn’t anywhere near the same.

Lue did not backstab Blatt and it’s likely had LeBron not returned that Blatt would have had a lot longer period and a lot more actual ability to implement his systems and coach the way he wanted to.

I’m of course grateful LeBron returned, but the Lead Ass’t/Associate Head Coach role is now common in the NBA. Optics may look similar but I don’t think it’s cause for concern.

Yep. the only difference i see is that Bickerstaff might see a more organic transition coming when Beilein retires.

They at least let Beilein talk to Bickerstaff and presumably give his blessing -- however perfunctory -- before moving ahead with it.

JB Bickerstaff’s father Bernie is part of the Cavs front office.

Glad we got JB to help the defense. Good staff so far.

Anybody watching the presser?

Beilein says he has a free flowing type of offense. Will run sets when the offense is in front of him and dead balls.

*Will Coach a summer league game or maybe the whole summer league

*Plans on giving Sexton some things to work on while he's away.

*He feels the Cavaliers have something special or he wouldn't have taken the job.

*Plans on the TEAM building the CULTURE with him.

I listened to it..let me say right off the bat, that Koby needed a tranquilizer:chuckle: , I know he's feels good, but he's got a ton of work to do to aquire talent.
Beilein said something important regarding Sexton..what he thinks might be a good game ,might not be a winning game..so he's got things to work on.

Seems high on Sexton, but realizes he needs to work with him a lot. So far so good. I liked what he had to say. Seems like a solid dude

I might be generalizing a bit but he spoke of giving Nance some things to work on..I would say he is going to treat the young players like they're still in school.
Which might not be a bad thing.
They need to tweek their games to get better.
