Josh Gordon discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
His head is on straight.

A guy I work with is an ex pro body builder and Gordon is in Phoenix training. Anyways he works out at the same gym as Josh and knows him and says Josh's head is on straight and super focused.

They got good CBD out there in AZ.

It's all going to depend on how much a team offers him in RFA. You're worth as much as a team is willing to pay you and because of his situation there's no guarantee that there's a team that's willing to take a huge gamble on him without being as familiar with him as we are. I could see a scenario where he balls out but teams are too afraid to offer him top 5 WR money and we end up retaining him at what would end up being a bargain.
If a team offers him literally anything, depending on what tender we place on him, I could see us cashing out and walking away from the table. For a 2nd round tender, for example, you let him walk.

Gordon has oddly begun to rep the Browns HARD on social media. Almost like someone convinced him that it’s his best business move.

He went from the Snapchat a year ago with trash can emojis on all his Browns gear to now showing off his Browns gear in his posts any chance he gets.

I’m not complaining at all, it’s just odd.

LeBron's team has their eye on him

In a sport with non guaranteed contracts and a player who is one bad decision away from never collecting an NFL paycheck again, I’d say pay him what he’s worth. When he’s right, he’s top 3-5 at his position. If he’s ever wrong again, you don’t have to pay him another dime. #SafeBet

That’s only true if you’re giving him basically no signing bonus.

So give him basically no signing bonus...
Sure, but he’s not going to like that.

He’s a RFA after next season.

My thought is that you put a high round tender on him (1st or maybe a 2nd), and then you have so many options.

He, having paid for peanuts for years, may want and NEED to extend with Cleveland just to make sure he’s not playing for that tender. He likely, under no circumstance, wants to play for that one year tender.

Some guaranteed money is probably what he greatly desires if he stays clean another year. Thus, you may get him on a decent deal. He will be 28 years old with a history of very hard drug use.

Or, the other option is you let him go out and find a deal. My guess is that the tender price would scare teams away given his history. However, if a team signs him and you don’t want to match, getting a first off of them for Josh Gordon is another huge win.

Either way, I think he does not play for the tender after next season. I think he either extends after the year with us, or we tender him and get a high pick for him.

And, if that’s what they want to do, I’d be ok with that. I’m not here saying to make Gordon the highest paid WR ever. I just don’t get the overly cautious crowd, or those that don’t want to pay him market value because he’s had issues. #1, it’s not our money. #2, the team has TONS of it to spend. #3, I’m pretty sure even guaranteed money can come back if a suspension/expulsion happens again (Vick, most notably).

Same thing with Landry. A huge crowd of people were pissed about his contract size. Who gives a shit? Not your money, he's legit, and we have won 1 game in two friggin seasons.

I for one am glad we are spending dough and trying to make this team watchable for once.

And Landry has acted like he WANTS to be here. ACTIVELY (to the point of tampering, pretty much) recruiting other elite players to come here. #PayTalent
