JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
People are seriously blaming JR being afraid to shoot on Lue? All Lue can do is pair him with playeds that get him wide open shots, show confidence in him by playing him minutes, and say repeatedly that he needs to shoot when open...all of which Lue has done. At some point it’s on JR to start living up to his contract and start producing.

Well said. He's been the single biggest disappointment this year. He is just plain bad.

Do you think the coaching staff have asked him to expand his game and try to initiate the offense and all?
I don't think so.. he certainly isn't initiating any offense right now of his own much less getting the offense into any sets..

I know they have asked him to take on a larger role defensively..but heck all them need to do that.
JR mind is in some kind of force field now where he doesn't even think about launching a 3 much less a bunch of 3's.
He is a fragile player who say's he mentally tuff, but it certainly isn't showing it right now.

But Shump was never a shooter. JR has always been a 3 point gunner. He is terrified to shoot the basketball right now and I don't know why.

I would seriously rather see him go 0-6 from 3 for the next 10 games instead of 0-1...0-0...

He has to lose playing time until he can start walking on the court and shooting bombs again. Flat out.
Exactly. Lue has been known to bench guys who refuse to shoot. Same should happen to JR

I’m convinced JR can never make a shot again or refuse to defend anything, and Lue will still give him over 30 minutes a night without fail.

He has a great first half on both ends and I was like...could this be him turning it around?

Then immediately went to being dogshit again in the 3rd quarter.

Yeah I don't get that. He looked like "old" JR there for a minute banging in threes smoothly, playing solid D.

That 1st quarter was like a breath of fresh air.

Hopefully it's a sign that JR is heading back in the right direction...

I don't understand why JR was in during crunch time last night....

I just don't understand it. It's bad enough he starts, when Lue is rolling him out there in the final minutes of a tight game, it does nothing to ease concerns about his coaching decisions.

In that 3rd quarter, I noticed the other Cavs were trying to help defend J.R.'s man when J.R. died on the screens set (off ball and on ball).

If he didn't need help defending the guy, the players' man they were helping off of wouldn't be wide open in the first place...

How much more is Ty gonna leave him out there for significant minutes...? Is it the fact that he's emotionally unstable and would pout if he didn't get his minutes??? I mean, yeah, he's being paid a lot of $$$ so we shouldn't waste the dollars, but it's becoming moot.

We can turn this around, if we don't wait until the VERY last minute. But the change needs to happen soon. Whether it's J.R. changing teams/his attitude/etc....

I just think about when jr let the bucks score cause he said hi to Jason Terry mid game

Wonder how he is going to respond in the next game with hearing his name in trade rumors.

7 points on 36% shooting in 30mpg combined with horrible D. That is a historically bad season right now.

I would be amazed if any team took on this scrub unless it's with the nets pick.

Lue is just as bad for continually giving him huge mins despite JR sabotaging the team.

i was wondering why Korver wasnt starting a month ago, and the month before that... Will probably be wondering the same thing in 2 months.

All I know is JR should never and I mean never close a game over Wade.. their IQ and defensive effort alone this year are in different stratosphere's
