JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I’m surprised there are zero posts on this thread since Game 2. JR came up big. He played hard in 35 minutes with 2 steals and a block despite only 5 points. This is the defensive mentality we need from him.

Can we call him Playoff JR when he exhibits this type of defensive intensity?

He was great. Why didn't he shoot more 3's? Miss the JR that would hoist for any occasion.

Proud of JR. This is where the playoff experience and being battle tested comes into play. If he plays with that kind of effort and intensity no matter how he shoots, he is valuable out there on the court.

This is a great reason to bring in TT as well. I hope Altman signs JR to a Max deal after the season .

Say what????? I hope you are just kidding. I don’t know what your goal in this forum but it makes a lot harder to come visit here with all your silly takes and ideas... I know you don’t care but i think I’ll put you on ignore, too like so many others have done. I’m not gonna let you ruin my love for this site...

Disagree. This motherfucker needs to start letting it fly. Don't know what happened but this guy only hoists like he used to occasionally now, when before he used to be automatic. That's what we need from him, not this "overthink, dirty work" guy.

His spacing is integral to what the Cavs have done the past few years; he needs to get it going. No reason he can't be a hard-nosed defender and an offensive contributor.

Isn't it weird how now that every roleplayer in the NBA is hoisting like JR, he has gone away from it? Can't understand it.

It makes it difficult to read so many bi polar takes . Few weeks ago everyone wanted JR benched for Cedi and now he’s the God of Defense . I honestly question how many here even follow the Cavs other than in box scores and playoff time. Ingnore me is fine , you’ll miss out on real talk .

One thing nobody can ever say about JR as a Cav is that he hasn't been a playoff performer. He had some struggles in the first year here and got suspended that year too. Maybe he's just taking way too many pages out of LeBron's playbook without the requisite talent(not try hard in the regular season, Bron still is an MVP candidate, JR gets benched like 4 times)

Everything wrong with the Cavs can’t always be pinned on LeBron’s regular season effort. JR Smith just flat out sucked for the last two years.

I was just kidding bro lol.

Last year JR's regular season was understandable with his personal issues. And he still managed to have a good playoffs for the 2nd straight year.

This year was just terrible from the start with the roster not fitting, starting and getting benched, etc, but his play was so bad he never made it possible for anything to work..

But he also looks like he might end up being a key playoff piece, again. He should have a much better regular season.

I think in JR’s case his perceived taking time off ala LeBron has more to do with ADD. He was the same way in NY mostly due lack of interest playing on a losing team. He did up his game after the benching here in Cleveland . Wasn’t he over 50% on 3’s ?

He’s had more success pressing versus letting Oladipo take 5 steps back + the space already provided and getting blown by (Love and Nance are waiting near the rim and still getting beat for layups has been dreadful). I hope Lue draws up some plays to get JR open because we need to get him going early. Props to him for playing championship level intensity

Way to ignore a wide open Clarkston on a corner three, idiot. Why did we pay this guy again? No one else in the NBA wanted him, literally nobody.

To be fair two things caused this:

(1) Lue mismanaged his timeouts which isn't new

(2) If Collison sinks that three, Indiana is fouling up three with no timeout. Therefore, they were planning the QB-WR play where Love throws it to LeBron and he quickly turns around before they inevitably foul (I'm making an assumption here but this has been the trend this season)

Problem here the above scenario didn't anticipate a miss (I know, pretty bad) which forces Indiana to play honest as we're in the bonus, so now a playoff game is being decided by JR which is lol worthy to begin with. At the moment I had a similar reaction because it seemed like Clarkson should've been open to receive a pass with 2.2 seconds on the clock (shave a second for the pass to get there and he would've had 1.2 seconds to launch a three for the win) but he's not the guy you want making decision and that shot is exactly what I expect from JR LMAO.
