JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Tack on $6 mil in salary this year + $17 mil in salary next year for a #25 pick is incredibly dumb. The Baron Davis deal in 2011 was because the Clippers were bad & willing to send an unprotected pick. This scenario is what will hurt us for the long run.

JR will have value at the deadline. As will Hill & Korver. We will be competitive & neither Hill or JR will have anything to do with that.

Houston needs to stop pumping out fake news. Every year..."Houston in talks to acquire superstar A", "Trading Anderson", "Drafted a real keeper in player X".

All complete bull shit by Morey.

We may not have a pick at all next year if we are out of the bottom 10. Having the 25-30th pick in the draft is better than having some cap space and overpaying someone.

Not entirely true. They drafted De'Anthony Melton, SG from USC in the 2nd round this year; Melton looked pretty good in the Summer League. Some compare him to an Avery Bradley type. Was kicked off USC though, so may have some issues of his own.

They also bought Vincent Edwards from Purdue from this draft. 4 year player.

In regards to shipping off Anderson for JR, not only do I not like it, but i wonder how we make a trade like that work with our current players? JR+Okaro=$16,264,951....not enough to take back Anderson. We currently don't have any other players we could include...

I'm more wondering if the Rockets can gather up enough non-guaranteed salary to just take JR off our hands. Perhaps they can sign Richard Jefferson, include Nene, add in Melton, Edwards, and a Kendrick Perkins type non-guaranteed 1 yr deal?

Melton would be a really good get. Not entirely sure he'd be worth taking on Anderson, but maybe Melton and a first?

Absolutely not. Especially that late in the draft.

We could literally spend money & buy two seconds for a few mil with equal or better talent.

I think only the guaranteed part of a contract counts for salary in a trade under the new CBA. Too many teams were signing fictitious contracts just to hedge salary cap rules.

I don't want JR on this team this season.
He imploded big time this year and the way he fouls and then questions whether he actually touched anyone is silly anymore.

I agree. I think there is value for us in having him off the team ASAP. He carries with him the stink of boneheaded-ness. We will never know how that series would have gone, had we won Game 1.

The Hawks---I know, I know--had no problem with eating Melo's salary and giving up Schroeder to buy a 1st in a similar range. We're not really going to need to worry about "wasting" cap space for the next 2 years of rebuilding, and yes, we're still going to be bottom-10-type non-competitive.

As far as Morey goes, you have to be impressed by his ability to misdirect on smokescreens like that, and be ahead of nearly everyone on the curve. I think this rgm post by BallerTalk summarizes his general ability best:

It's too bad that Morey got outmaneuvered by Myers just once, and made just one mistake in misjudging Ryno in the big-money '16 offseason, in which Myers also signed, well, you know.

Fixing either that roster inefficiency or CP3's hamstring would've gotten them over the hump.

Yes..just watching him especially in the playoffs, he looked like a person who wasn't in control of himself , and that can only lead to ejections .

The Hawks used Melo to get out from underneath $45 mil over 3 years of Schroeder. So they saved 20 mil by eating Melo now. Which was a no brainer because they had the cap space to do it.

The New York Police Department is currently investigating Cleveland Cavaliers star JR Smith for stealing and damaging a fan's cellphone, according to TMZ Sports.

The reported incident occurred early Sunday morning in Manhattan when a fan reportedly tried to take a picture of Smith against his wishes. The NBA star allegedly grabbed the phone and threw it in a nearby construction zone.

The victim filed a report with the police and claimed that his $800 phone was damaged.

While the police have not charged Smith with a crime, he is currently wanted for questioning about the incident.

I read on Another site that his contract falls under the old CBA so his full contract could be use in a trade then waive for the guarantee portion next summer, I’m not sure if that is true, but that could be a better used of his trade value next summer....
