JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's nice actually.

Makes you wonder if Burks isn't what the Rockets might want instead. I wish they had more assets. Maybe then we could send JR and Burks.
When can Burks be traded? Isn’t there a waiting period?

A couple of weeks before the deadline if you send other players out too. If you want to trade him by himself he can be traded anytime.

Not sure it will work, but I was hoping we could move JR & Clarkson or JR & Hood for Knight. I know Hood would have to ok and it would have to be after Monday.

Maybe JR and Hood would make sense for the Rockets. Maybe they are waiting for Monday.

Just thinking they may be getting close to or already in a panic mode. They are a complete mess so far with a very limited bench.

They are out of the playoffs right now. What a downer. Glad we at least got back to the finals last year instead of totally imploding like this.

Would have to be JR and Hood because of how much Clarkson makes.

I would want them to include Isaiah Hartenstein in any deal we make with them along with a pick or two.

I think Houston will want JR for his contract as much if not more than JR as the player. It gives them ammo to do something this summer like another opt in and trade like how they got CP3. They don't have great assets but probably enough for another opt in and trade since the other team will lose the player regardless. They went pretty hard to get Butler, I imagine Morey, Harden, and CP3 have targets in mind if they go after JR.

Don't see the point of trading JR now that he is away from the team. Keep him until June.

As much as JRs contract will have the most value in the summer, it's a huge gamble to hold on to his contract in hopes someone needs cap space unexpectedly and didn't have their cap set up with moves at he deadline.

JRs fully guaranteed date is 6/30/2019 so it can't be used in sign and trade deals to save salary for the new team. A team would have to unexpectedly get a signal before free agency that a big name player wants to sign with them and they don't have cap room to do it. I don't think any teams will bank their cap space on getting a JR type contract in the summer instead of lining up their cap at the deadline. JRs contract is unique and I'm not even sure if there are any others like it grandfathered into the CBA still out there.

Zizic declines

He can go to Houston too then if multiple firsts and IH are coming back :chuckle:

In all seriousness though those two could play together with the range IH has on his jumper. They'd be kind of slow for sure, you should check out a few of his clips from the g league has a good motor, feel for the game and an underrated passing ability that was surprising to see on top of his range

Not true. When a player is traded to a team that is OVER THE CAP, as we were when we completed the trade, we must hold on to that player for 2 months from the trade date. Thus, making Alec Burks eligible to be traded starting January 28th.

I like burks, but because of his ability and contract I think we can get a good return for him so I would move him

Thanks that wasn't the way it was reported in an article I read.
