JR Smith

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So what would a deal with Houston look like? Anthony + Knight + protected 2019 pick for JR? The pick better be good because Knight's owed $15 million next season. Is it worth it?

Yeah that's what I think it would be. I wouldn't mind Knight because he has upside and we might be able to to flip him for another asset at some point depending how quickly he gets back to form.

Knight played against the Lakers didn't he? Also flipping Knight is an interesting idea, the Kings with Randolphs contract, with one of Giles / Skal and a pick would be a good match Kings don't really have a decent back up to Fox.

Yeah he played 4 minutes. If we got him I wouldn't immediately flip him. We can pump up his value and possibly get another protected 1st round pick from him. Just prove that he is healthy and back to form, which I don't know how long that will take. He really hasn't played in 2 years.

I think they'd have to make the move here soon if they'd want to move him this year. Forget when the deadline is but know they'd have to wait about 60 days

They have to wait 60 days if they want to trade him with another player. That date has passed if they want to pair him with someone at the trade deadline. Houston will want Melo in any deal they do and thats why I think they waited.

I think less than 2 months would be pressing it to really show he is back to form. The summer would be more realistic to flip him. That said you never know when some PG is going to get hurt and Knight could be a teams solution, which is why I think we should try to do the deal now vs waiting.

Who can we have from the Rockets for him? PJ Tucker?

Honestly the Cavs don’t need to take back shit at this point. No longer term contracts for a late first rounder with significant protections.

Bumping this thread is it’s the final countdown to JR’s days as a Cavalier, even if they did end already, at least unofficially.

MKG just picked up his option and Charlotte’s cap is officially a mess. Don’t be surprised if they come with a strong offer for JR’s contract, as they desperately need to shed some salary if they wish to re-sign Kemba Walker.

Some other teams that may come after JR’s contract are Miami, OKC, Portland, & Minnesota. With the West being wide open now, I look for there to be a lot of interest in him.

I'm getting the feeling that if JR was going to be traded it would have been done by now. It's not a simple trade because of the salaries involved.. This is not a trade that comes up at the spur of the moment.
Also Miami seems to be the only team serious about the trade. They are bidding low.

I think the Cavs want Barrett and are trying to work out possible compensation to move up to #3. #13 for JR and #26 most likely has been leaked because they are shopping that around with our roster trying to move up further.
