K Love for Marc Gasol

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Do we really have to act like this is the worst idea ever? I mean, no it can't happen because of salary cap reasons. But we are talking about a guy who will be 1st team All-NBA. Trying to acquire him isn't necessarily a bad idea.

Love has the potential to be a HOF inductee and should be a perfect fit for this team. I still have high hopes.

We're a good team - no, a great team. Why make any trades when we're clearly rolling?

Maybe I could understand looking to make moves in the offseason if we flame out in the playoffs, but right now I like what we have going on.

I'm not sure how this deal would make sense for either team, but no it's not totally dumb when we'd be getting the best player in the deal (Gasol). Love just doesn't fit with Randolph and we would need a legit stretch 4 to maintain the great spacing that Love gives us for LeBron and Kyrie. Getting Marc in theory would be nice, but practically doesn't seem to work.

Forget on the court considerations.

Once again, from a CBA perspective, it is not doable.

The Cavs will be a luxury tax team and can not receive a player back via a S&T

We could trade Love, Tristan, or Iman out via a S&T for a player who is already under contract but we can not be on the receiving end of a player who was S&T.

Trading Kevin makes no sense, unless you really worry his back, and its lingering effects. Which is a valid fear at this point. This year, no, Kevin, has not been as good as Gasol. Overall? Yes, I think he's the better player, and he's definitely a better fit. Love is a great rebounder, has still be good this year, but not himself, and he's still a much better scorer overall.

I don't think LeBron can really play with a true low post player anyway. He probably could, but doesn't prefer it much.

Kevin's game fits in just fine with LeBron. He's not really a traditional low post player. He can play there, and is fine, but he's more a mid-range-high-post-stretch big. We just rarely get him the ball where he likes to do his work very often, strangely.

Kevin just hasn't been healthy this year, so we've not seen the real Kevin Love very often. Still been pretty damn good though.

So a 30 year old center for a 26 year old PF and a 28 year old center, both in their prime, that combine for 26.1 points and 17.4 rebounds of total production compared to the 30 year old center's 17.6 points and 7.9 rebounds? Really? What the hell?

Gasol has never averaged over 15 PPG prior to this season nor a double-digit rebound season in his 6-7 years in the league... Kevin Love has averaged a double-double every season he has been in the league with the exception of his rookie year..

This is a very, very, very... bad trade.

Love is only going to get better. He's clearly injured and it's only the first year.

This guy healthy would be tremendous. Of course the Cavs must bet on his health for next season at least and see how it plays out.

This team is going to most likely go far and/or win it all this year. The most important thing for next season, along with health and maybe a nice young player we grab in the draft to develop and maybe a nice supporting piece we add with Haywood, is continuity. Even if we lose next year, there is something to be said for the CONTINUITY of bringing back the same coach, and hopefully the same roster next year . The entire team will benefit from it, Love may even be the biggest beneficiary of them all from the idea. It's IMPERATIVE that unless forced by someone leaving, that we keep this team in-tact, the big 3 SPECIFICALLY.

There is only one condition I can see trading Love AND T-Mo for Marc Gasol in

You have to be crazy

There is no acting here. It is a bad idea if the means to acquiring him is trading a 2nd team All-NBA player last year at a much more competitive position for all NBA teams AND throwing in a center who has been a key part in revamping our defense. When you look at the age factor it is a no brainer. Kevin Love for Marc Gasol is a bad trade. Kevin Love and T-Mo for Gasol is an awful one.

Kinda, given the guy you'd be trading is 4 years younger, is a walking double-double, an all-star, and looked at as a top-10 player when right.

I don't think it's outrageous, if you're really scared about Kevin's health, which is a legit ? at this point, but even still.

Obviously it's not going to happen, but I don't think Gasol really fits in that well. He's a legit post player, and I think Kevin is more a high post player, that prefers to play on the wing/elbow, even though we strangely don't feature him there.

LeBron doesn't like playing with a guy on the block.

Also, someone mention just playing LB at the 4. Good luck selling him on that. He disputes being a 4, and trying to sell him on that wouldn't go very well.

It's true, later in LB's career, I mean way later (depending how long he wants to play), he's going to have to make that transition whether he likes it or not, if he still wants to play at a pretty high level. But the next 4-5 years, I don't think he has to yet.

I can't believe I am responding to this... But not a chance... People don't understand what Love brings to this team. A primarily perimeter player right now averaging 10 boards. He is the 2nd best passer on our team. And maybe the most willing passer. He draws fouls at a high rate and is averaging more rebounds and 1 point less per game to Gasol.... I watch the Cavs and see Love and Moz as essential to their success right now.... Oh yeah and it can't happen because it would be a sign and trade.
Complete conjecture on all accounts.

I do not share this feeling nor do I agree with your opinion on what Love is thinking or has been doing.

The one thing you simply CANNOT argue is that his game has been under utilized for a large portion of the season.

Despite what LeBron says about being willing to not score much if that meant winning, its simply not true. He is going to get his 25 to 28 points as long as he's playing effectively, and frankly I don't have a problem with that. He scores at a 50% clip and so what's not to love about him taking his 18 to 20 shots a game?

Kyrie has been more effective than Love so it's hard to argue with him taking more shots than Love. Who would you be taking shots from to give Love more? TT and Delly and Shump are already shooting very little. Mozgov is taking some shots but he's also scoring SIXTY percent of the time! The one player I could maybe see shooting a bit less is JR but he's also been effective and there's a lot of times where K Love seems tentative, basically forcing someone other than LeBron and Kyrie to shoot more, so where exactly would you be generating extra shot attempts for Kevin Love?
