There are huge differences between the two. Davis is a forward & needs someone competent to get him the ball and play off of him (Rondo & a healthy Jrue). He goes as the players around him go. If he gets doubled & tripled, his teammates need to be able to create shots and knock down shots. Davis has always made winning plays when healthy.Eh, Davis is in the same category as Westbrook for me. Massive box score totals year in and year out, but I'm not at all convinced he's a top-5 player in terms of actually winning basketball games. Great opportunity for both of those guys to change my mind this postseason, but I'm not holding my breath.
Westbrook is the embodiment of an athlete playing basketball. He puts up stats and it really isn't that conducive to winning. If some one said I was putting together a team with Steven Adams, Carmelo Anthony as the 3rd option, Paul George as the second option & a point guard that is going to average a triple double....you would think that team should have 60+ wins and murdering teams. Instead teams tempt Westbrook to try taking over the game, take the bad shots & commit the turnovers we all know are going to happen. You put Rajon Rondo's BBIQ in Westbrook's body and you have Oscar Robertson on steroids.
I said it years ago, but Westbrook is the #2 reason (Behind Clay Bennett) that Durant was going to leave no matter what.
