Kevin Durant

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think people grasp how good GSWs payroll looks. Barnes cap hold is 5.2M, Ezeli's is 3.0M. Meaning they can sign KD, then match those offer sheets going above the cap.

So really, in order to give KD a max offer all they have to do is dump Iggy and Bogut, both on good contracts and attractive in the secondary market (meaning they will be able to get a 1st for Iggy, a few 2nds for Bogie).

Keeping Ezeli/Barnes would put them in a predicament when they pay Curry his 5/200+ next year but they can if they want to.

They can bring in the 2014 MVP without much pain and add him to a historically great team. Wild world.

They wouldn't just be able to dump Iggy and Bogut without receiving salary back, and if they could find teams with cap space to do it, there's no way they'd get any picks in the deal. In fact, they'd likely have to send them out. Now, it'd all be worth it to get Durant and keep their top 3 intact, but they'd still have to part with a substantial portion of their team while relinquishing some draft picks.

In a normal year perhaps; but EVERY team is going to have cap space this offseason and those guys can play. They would have no problems getting someone who strikes out in FA to not only take them but give something up, especially for Iggy.

I fully understand what the landscape will look like next year, but I'm just not convinced that any team will be willing to absorb Iguodala's contract AND give up a pick for him in his age 33 season.

Plus, teams will know why the Warriors are trying to dump them. It will be just like when the Cavs were clearing space for LeBron. If they attempt this, they'll get gouged just like we did.

Just so we are clear, you are saying that multiple teams are going to offer guys like Ryan Anderson and his neg RAPM 4/80 but no one will pay Iggy 11m.

We'll agree to disagree. I mean Jeff Green at 9m just got a 1st rd pick.

You're leaving out the fact that Memphis also had to take on Lance Stephenson's contract in that deal. That's what I'm saying, nobody is going to take on all the money AND give up draft picks. It would be unheard of. Especially in a scenario where they are dumping him to make room for Durant, nobody is going to give them draft picks. In fact, they'd ask Golden State to give them up.
