Kevin Love Trade Ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I just can't see Boston making any moves until the offseason. They give up a ton of flexibility if they do.

If they wait, they can sign a max player in FA and turn around and flip the Brooklyn pick plus players for another. If they're patient, they could possibly sign Blake Griffin or Hayward and then turn around and trade for a Butler, Cousins, or George.

Making a trade right now removes that possibility as they'd no longer have the necessary cap space to sign a max FA, unless they unloaded some key players.

I can't imagine both Butler and George get dealt before the break. Both teams would probably be wise to hold out. Celtics are going to deal those picks for someone.

Someone mentioned this few days ago on Twitter.

People are thinking Boston would use those pickss on some player like Paul George or Jimmy Butler, but may be Danny Ainge goes the other way round completely and simply doesn't trade those picks. Rather drafts them for Boston themselves and build a team for the future.

Because the truth is there is no one player in the league besides LeBron, Durant and Anthony Davis who is going to make them legit contender and better than either us or Warriors. And none of them are going to be traded. So any trade they make, be it for DeMarcus Cousins, Paul George or Jimmy Butler etc alone isn't going to make them better than either us or Warriors. Much rather keep those picks and build a team for the future when us and Warriors are no longer at their peaks or at the end of it? By then those players who they would drafted now would be in their prime.

That seemed a good shout to me. Danny Ainge is one of the smartest GMs in the league and one of the best I have seen. And this idea tbh, does seem like something Ainge would definitely consider.

Couldn't hurt to call up Indiana and Chicago and try to work something out for Love...

Otherwise, I'm fine with keeping him.

It makes me feel bad for Kev because he is a very good player and seems a nice guy but the truth is if we have a chance of getting either Butler or PG, we should be all in on it.

Can't feel too sorry for him. He's an NBA champion making 100 million dollars. He's had a good career.

Love couldn't have gotten hurt at a worst time. I'm all in keeping him unless we can get one of these two.

It's nothing personal or a knock on Kevin. I find Paul and Butler fit better, and provide better match ups against GS.

Make no mistake, we are going through these assholes for the rest of LeBron's career. Everything we do must be taken into consideration against them.

Don't worry, neither of them are going to happen.

I think it would be very, very difficult for a team to win a championship under the current rules with Andre Drummond being the third best player. He's just unplayable for long stretches unless you want to limit yourself to an expected points per possession of 0.88 (based on this year's FT% of 44% which is up 8.5% from last year).

For reference the lowest PPP in the league is the 6ers with .997

I certainly wouldn't trade Love for Drummond. It's an automatic out for opposing defenses in the playoffs

And before someone brings up TT: in by far his worst year at the line in his career he is shooting 51.5% from the line. Down 10.1% from last year. Even so his expected PPP from just fouling him every time is 1.03. Still pretty bad, but better than 5 NBA team's PPP. And his career average is 61.7%. An expected points per possession of 1.23 from hack a TT. The highest PPP currently in the league is the nerds at 1.14 so hack a Tristan, on average, is not a good strategy unless he continues his career worst year into the playoffs

Hell would freeze over before we traded Boogie for Love. And to the guys saying that's a risk for you guys cut stop it. Y'all would beat GS in 6 games max

If trading Love for Boogie was hell freezing over, what does this trade with the Pelicans signify? Armageddon? :chuckle:

I think that trade clearly shows that Booger's value around the league was greatly overstated

It's hard to say if the Kings would have done Love for Cousins because they're really really stupid but it's NOT hard to say that Love easily beats that offer from the Pelicans

But the fact that there were multiple offers and that was the best they got for him. Yeah his value was a bit overstated

I hope the other potential trades for Boogie leak. No one knows how the Kings value anything, they might have overvalued something in this trade beyond anyone else in the league.

The Kings aren't looking for win now talent, so they wouldn't have been interested in Love. They were in the market for young guys and picks. I'm shocked it was a marginal prospect and a likely non-lotto pick, but the Cavs didn't have that to offer.

I wonder what Boston is thinking. Boogie was just sold for pennies on the dollar and Boston has a bunch of assets. Especially, knowing that the Pels put protection on the pick. They might not have prioritized Boogie because of his issues, but top 5-10 level talents aren't on the market in the bargain bin very often.

What a weird deal. Crazy.

If the recent pickups (2 Williams & maybe Bogut) play well and the Cavs intend to resign them... this might force Griffins hand to trade KLove, especially if the team performs well without his presence... maybe OKC would be a good candidate if they are looking to appease Westbrook (from what I read a good friend of Love) and want better perimeter shooting... OKC has a bunch of draft picks that might interest the Cavs...
