Kevin Love Trade Ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yes. I watched Larry Bird play basketball for nearly a decade. not one time watching Kevin Love have I ever thought.. wow he is a lot like Larry Bird.

The only similarity is the 3pt shot, rebounds and the records that only both of them have or some shit like that.

Then you need to watch some old Minnesota Kevin Love games.

Yes. Big men that lack elite athleticism/size but make up for it with skill, inside-outside games, elite rebounding, and the basketball IQ for passing. I wasn't really referring to records but yes, both are the only two NBA players with 10+ rebound average and 600+ threes iirc.

Okay so say you can establish a pretty strong correlation between Bird and Love's play; what exactly do you mean by "play up the comparisons"? Make Larry giddy that he's getting a white guy with similar attributes, or are you trying to get him to believe that Love is the next Bird?

Neither appears to be an airtight case.

I have . Love plays nothing like Larry Bird.

Bird played defense. he went after steals. He showed up in the 4th quarter not fade away. He was also a much better shooter and could fire the ball from anywhere.

Bird played with the same fire and intensity you see from the likes of Magic. Lebron, Jordan etc.

Love doesn't have that at all.

Paul George is closer to Larry Bird than Kevin Love by far.

Maybe your talking about Broken back 35 year old larry bird

"If I had to choose a player to take a shot to save a game I'd choose Michael Jordan; If I had to choose a player to take a shot to save my life...I'd take Larry Bird." - Pat Riley

What makes you think Bird didn't have elite athleticism? did he have Jordans athleticism.... no but who did.

Your really basing your assessment on bird on generic stats and and the last 4 years of his career as a hobbled Superstar.

No, for some reason you're just taking the comparison personally. Not interested in going there.

As in get Larry Bird interested in acquiring a player with a similar skill-set to mentor/watch to give up PG or tank.
Paul George has a more equivalent skill set to Larry Bird than an Older Kevin Love.

Torn, what makes you say Larry had elite athleticism? I've always regarded him as a somewhat average to slightly above average athlete. It wasn't his athleticism that made him great, and I don't really think he relied on it much, outside of his personal endurance.

Larry Bird would often look like the fastest guy on the floor late in games because of his endurance. He could also dribble at full speed for a big man.

Larry could Jump and and run with elite lateral quickness and he ran the floor with gusto.

Heck in his thirties the guy was doing stuff with a practically broken back that a lot of guys cant do healthy.

Could he Jump from the free court lie to the basket... of course not.

Larry also adapted. when his injuries began mounting up. he changes his game. he stopped rebounding above the rim and learned to rely more on blocking out and anticipating where the ball was going.

Larry Bird used everything all the time. If he lost a step or couldn't keep a guy in front of him he would find another way.

Ehh, sorry but there are very few plays in that video that really look all that athletic. All of his poster dunks are not because he's skying to dunk over some guy, it's just the guy trying to block the dunk missed it...

The video even says his vertical leap was 28"... I mean while that may be respectable I certainly don't feel like someone with a vertical leap of 28" would be considered an elite athlete.

Maybe his endurance is his greatest strength athletically, besides hand-eye coordination, because there weren't many plays in that video where I thought he was all that fast.

A vertical leap does not make one an Athlete.
its just means they can jump.

Whats wrong is your definition of athleticism

Larry birds hand eye coordination, Hands, Footwork, Reaction time, Agility, Strength and Endurance were all elite.
Bird could also run at full speed with the ball at an elite level for his size.

that's the very definition of Athleticism.
