Big Love fan here. Other than a couple of recent games where his shot has been way off (including in that latest atrocity of a game vs. Minnesota), he's been great in all facets on offense this season.

I do seek to be objective, though, and one of the things I wish he would do is be more aggressive in protecting the rim on defense. This is by far his biggest weakness, IMO. He's great at drawing charges, but he rarely goes for the block even when he is in good position to do so. He has a conservative habit of wanting to either box out early, or perhaps not risk a foul, and so completely withdraws/stands. Problem is, Cavs give up so many easy buckets in the paint because of those Love tendencies; players sail by him as he simply watches. If he contested shots even just a few times a game, it would really help the team's defense and dissuade guards from driving to the paint with as much confidence. I honestly don't know why he almost never tries. There's really no good reason for it. It's hard to imagine that he's never been taught or told to try more often.

3 guesses who this person is:

1) Love himself

2) Channing Frye

3) Birdie

lol no, I'm just a fan. I'm most loyal to the OKC Thunder (I live in MO and they're the closest thing to a home team), but I also love the Cavs. My favorite players are Westbrook and Love. I'm WilyWestbrook0 over on SportsCardForum. They're very familiar with my Love and Westbrook fandom over there. :)

His closeout on Siakim at the 3 point line last night was fantastic!

And by fantastic I mean really bad.

And by really bad I mean absolutely fucking atrocious and made me want to puke all over the place.

In the last 3 losses, he's averaging 5 ppg on .154 shooting and .111 three point shooting. He's complemented that with 5 rpg. Add in his below average defense and that's just unbelievably bad.

He’s getting his ass beat night in and night out at the Center spot lol

I’m not worried about Love at all honestly. He hasn’t looked good the last two games entirely because of matchups. Playing against “real” traditional centers like Towns and Valanciunas are ridiculously tough assignments for him. Playing love at center should be situational...it won’t work against every team.

If we had a coach who knew what team we were playing... It would be ideal. I don't think he plans matchups by opposing teams. I think he uses a Ouija board to do that...

Love is lost on both ends of the court with IT being added to the starting lineup.

Quite frankly, trying to work IT back into the starting lineup is really screwing up Love's offensive game. Love is totally a rhythm player, more so than a lot of other players. You can see Lebron and KLove walking on eggshells out there trying to give IT his space at the detriment of them getting normal touches in normal spots. Take away Love's early offense and it often screws him up for the whole game.

As for Love in the paint? He is overmatched against true centers, we always knew that. But he is pretty much the only guy on the team who boxes out while everyone else lets their man run free to the boards. Team boxing out and team rebounding should be a topic of discussion at the next walk-around, there is no excuse for letting teams killing us on the boards. It takes more than one player to rebound.

Not buying this at all. IT has nothing to do with Love missing bunnies, dribbbling off his foot, and not even hitting rim on his shots. He’s just had a couple bad games is all. Orlando game they were fine on the floor together and draining shots all over the floor.

It's too bad Ty Lue can't figure that out. Dogmatically sticking to the same lineup night after night...ugh.
